Preaching to the choir on this and I watched some do it with their team in a hole. Do they really care about the team or is it all about the glory?
All of the celebrating is out of hand and ruining the game for me. TD's? Sure or even great drive killing D plays but just doing their job and making a tackle or a 1st down is ridiculous.
I'd bet the coaches don't like it either but now they're dealing with immediate transfer and play and the game, both in college and the NFL, has changed and the players now being the dog and the coaches the tail. Think these coaches want the players wasting energy on childish celebrations?
I saw a player yesterday, after getting owned by the OL all day, make a sack and stomp 10 yards down the field and throw his hands up. His team lost.
Just think how the great team players from back in the day feel when they watch these showoffs, making 20-30 times the money they made, act like they've never been there before.
I see this crap and immediately wish for Sweetness and Barry Sanders back. If any player had a reason to showoff, it was Barry Sanders. Gives the ball to the ref and goes to the bench to rest up.
Did anyone catch that rehearsed, and not too well, TD celebration of Cam Newton's yesterday? Then he gets benched. I fell off the couch laughing.
