1. War daddy - The lack of passrush doomed the 2016 playoffs. Taco was rated as a 2nd round pick, and there are questions whether he is a RDE or not. However that was the best we could do at #28. It appeared there was interest in trading up possibly for Harris (picked at #22), but the FO seems too desperate to replace the DBs instead.
Sad to see Willis, Basham and Rivers all picked up in the 3rd round before our pick. May be a trade could be done with a Sheldon Richardson for get a DL that consistently demands double teams. Perhaps by trade deadline.
2. CBs - Allowing Mo and Carr to leave created this problem, and 3 CBs were drafted to throw numbers at the problem. Given 2 of the 3 were 2nd round rated, the problem has probably been adequately addressed. Rookies may get burnt in the 1st half of the season, but should probably be decent by the end of the season.
3. Safety - Allowing Wilcox and Carr to leave made this a concern, but neither were special in the first place. The cheap FA and the 6th round S probably can replace the depth, assuming Heath starts. Heath is faster than Wilcox/Carr anyway.
4. RT - Free retired (thank god) but 'replaced' with someone about as bad but much cheaper. With the focus on the backfield, no mid-round RT was picked.
5. WR - a slot receiver was brought in with similarity to Beasley - possibly an improvement over Lucky for returner.
6. A few other players were drafted but look like practice squad types e.g. big slow inexperienced WR from Ohio State.
In summary, the FO did a good job replacing lost DB pieces, but the #1 need probably not solved. The revolving door at RT seems to be still there in the form of a different player.
