As I see it these are the positional needs.

RB - They need two. I would like to see Dowdle re-signed and another brought in.
TE - I could see taking one but the one thing Dak does well is make TE's look good. Ferguson and Schoon should be fine.
WR - They need a legit no 2. This is likely going to have to be a high draft pick or an expensive F.A.
QB - Should try to find someone to develop.
OT - They can make do with what they have but If they drafted a LT high, Moved Guyton to the right side and cut Steele I would consider that an upgrade.
OG - They could get by with what they have but I think I would move Beebee to RG and Hoffman to C.
C - I don't see this as a need at all. Hoffman to start if injury happens move Beebee back and put Bass at RG.

DE - major need and will require a high draft pick or expensive F.A.
DT - They need two. a 1 tech and a 3. Both are hard to find for this team. Expensive F.A. or early draft pick for the 3 tech and 1 tech they need to find a diamond in the rough.
LB - Oh Lord it looks bad currently. They need two. One needs to be a day one starter. Probably need to re-sign Kendricks and either hit on another in the draft or sign a F.A. Hope that Overshown is able to come back at some point.
CB - Much bigger need than I ever thought we could be looking at. It sounds like we are going to try to trade Diggs and hopefully re-sign Bland. They need to re-sign J-Lew as well and then Draft another early.
S - Dono and Hooker are getting up there but Thomas and Bell might be ready for extended roles. As much as I would like to see one of the many good safeties in this draft on the Cowboys there are just too many other needs.

IF I were GM this is the route I would go.

Get Micah signed long term and do the cap magic that creates more room for this year.
Give an Extension to Bland

Sign Landry at DE.
Sign Allen at DT
Re-sign Dowdle, J-Lewis, Kendricks, And See if D-law will sign a cheaper short term deal. 1 or two years.
Stick with Diggs one more year and see if he can get back to form.

Draft.
1. WR - Tet or Burden
2. DT - Alfred Collins
3. LB - Carter, Paul, Schwesinger, Stuttsman etc.

I would then Package a couple of 5th rd picks to move into the 4th

4. RB - Gordon etc.

With the remaining picks I would try to find those diamonds in the rough. Developmental QB, Maybe a corner, a safety etc.

This only requires a couple of outside free agent signings and would give me some hope.

We're sleeping on CB a lot, I hope we can settle that with a Vet in FA so we dont' have to make that our first pick in the draft (unless we trade down gain more picks and get one that way)

OL-guard
RB-Must
LB-Must
DL-DOUBLE DOUBLE MUST!!
WR-MUST!

Backup QB-Super must!!!!

Nice post. Hit needs on the nose. I would not be mad at Jeanty, WR, or Dline in the first. I would get Dart in the second or third.

On offense, I would stick with the OL as is, unless there is an obvious best player available situation. They have to hope Guyton improves because missing on 2 1st round picks in consecutive years would be awful.

But taking the BPA, or the player who would make the biggest impact might make the most sense. Of course trading down is an option too.

But, other than QB, because this years class is not very good, WR, RB or TE would be fine. Keep in mind Ferguson is a free agent after this year. He needs to have a much better year for me to want to keep him in Dallas.

On defense, DL and LB are the priorities. As I have been saying I would take at least 2 DTs and 2 LBs, as well as 2 RBs. I have no problem drafting a CB and a safety either if the situation presents itself.

This is a good QB class. Especially for 2 and 3rd Round. Dart, Howard, Cook.

I think this coaching staff will help Guyton a lot ,big time improvement from last years staff.A common sense approach to free agency should be ,sign 3 or 4 difference makers at key positions of need .Then you can draft best available player in the draft.Dallas needs 2 DT MLB RB#1 WR#2 OG CB DE S .

Absolute biggest need is LB! They need to pay Nick Bolton and draft a LB with the #12 pick. They can take a RB with #2 and a DT in the 3rd.

They ain’t paying Bolton he’s too good. My guess is LB comes in round 5. RB, WR and DT maybe even CB

First off, I like your thinking and definitely has a lot of merit and thought. Just my thoughts.

RB - Need 2 which I hope we get in the draft. I would sign Nick Chubb to see if he has recovered from injury, low risk, low price, high upside. In the draft, I like Omarion Hampton in late 1st or 2nd round if hoping he falls. Then Ollie Gordon II in the 5th round, he is under the radar but have the gut feeling he could be special in Schott's offense.

TE - Ferguson and Schoon should be 1 and 2 and look for Ford to take a big leap as a red zone guy this year. Still I would take a guy like Luke Lachey with a 5th or 6th.

WR - Drafting 2 this year and at least one in the first 2 days. I like Emeka Egbuka in late 1st over the other high rank guys, sure hands, make the tough catch, knows how to get open in any situation and knows how to help his QB out when QB is pressured. Jaylin Higgins would be my guy if they wait until 2nd round or Savion Williams in the 3rd. Giles Jackson would be a good day 3 pick with a lot of speed. Might take a chance in free agency on Mike Williams on a 1 year deal or maybe just maybe see if Michael Gallup can make it back.

QB - Probably see one in day 3 and one as an UDFA. Maybe a Kyle McCord late.

OT - We stay pat with Smith at LT and Steele at RT but probably draft at least one to hopefully be the guy. Charles Grant could be that guy.

OG - Unless we see otherwise BeBee stays at OC but think he is an all pro at RG.

C - Think they will sign Will Hernandez as a swing OG and could them them draft Seth McLaughlin and move Bebee to RG. Or they could sign Drew Dalman in FA which would be a good move.

DE - Could see them trade down in round 1 to pick up extra 3rd and take Mykel Williams for the DE who can also play DT if needed. A lot will depend on when they think Sam Williams will be back and possibly brings Lawerence back for another year. Signing someone like Dayo Odeyingbo or Azeez Ojulari would be helpful if the right price in FA.

DT - A splash would be Jonathan Allen in FA but don't see any DT worth the price in FA. Could see Nazir Stackhouse or Jamaree Caldwell as targets on late day 2 or early day 3 if we can trade up for a 4th.

LB - they have to sign at least one if not 2 in FA. My favorites would Dre Greenlaw and Nick Bolton but that is dreaming but Ernest Jones and Jamien Sherwood would be okay. Probably draft one but for me Campbell is the only worth a pick in day 1 or 2.

CB - We will draft one just probably in Day 3 and as to FA, Lewis should be resigned but probably a tier 3 guy after that. Will Diggs be traded, not so sure.

S - Think we stay pat at safety.

The next 8 weeks should be fun to watch.

Neglecting the needs of this team and letting the roster get to this current state is GM malpractice.......he'd get shown the door if he worked for 31 other teams
