I've seen Zack make plenty of plays on the field. The guy has more tackles then any LB in todays HOF. His track record speaks for itself. Not to offend Akin but he can't carry Zacks jock on his best day....
I meant post-concussion.

I predict there will be so many negative Nancys on this forum when the Jets select Darren McFadden at #6.

Hey, it could be a lot worse McFadden fans. Do you want him in New England with Moss and Brady?

Exactly.
Jets, Falcons, Raiders, Chiefs, please feel free to do your franchise proud.

I agree and its sad because we have a very very good RB already.

That is the reason Ireland gave not me. Zack is getting up in age and is coming off a concussion and while you may not think it is a major issue it was enough to keep him out for the season. All I'm saying is yes I have a concern about this if you don't well then you don't.
These are the only quotes I could find from Ireland when they released him.

"Zach Thomas has been a great player on this team for many years," Ireland said. "And because of the type of player and the kind of person that Zach is, this was not an easy decision."

"In addition to his numerous accomplishments on the field, he was a leader off of it as well," Ireland said. "We want to thank Zach for everything he has done for the Dolphins organization and the South Florida community."

Not only that, but the other RBs in this Draft are more than capable of doing the job here that we need done. It's not like we are starving to death.

Once is the key word there.

Even if he was considered fully healthy or whatever. If I was the Dolphins I would still release him because with his age and how poor the team is all he would have been doing is costing a roster spot with no future.

Carp doesn't seem to deal with contact well. Maybe this year will be different. To compare Zach Thomas and Akin Ayodele is amusing to say the least.

I understand that Zach was great 5-10 years ago.As of now hes a liability with his age and health.Akin isnt as good as Zach was at his age,but that doesnt matter now.Akin is a mediocre player and so is Zach (now). If he was performing high dont u think he wouldnt have been dropped from a team that needs good players that are proven in a leadership position like that? Its funny BP didnt drop Jason Taylor, huh?

Can you post your medical degrees doctor?

It doesn't take a medical degree to know how very serious multiple concussions can be and I have the exact same concerns as the original poster has. You'd be a fool to just brush it off or think nothing of it. IMO/FWIW..

Your post is extremely accurate and with that being said, I'd still take Zack over Akin. Akin doesn't make plays, none at all.. I'd take my chances with a concussed Zack...

By the way Sarge, I luv your sig. Haley is one of my ALL TIME favorite Cowboys with Irvin as my favorite. It's a damn shame that Haley isn't in the HOF.. Flat out RIDICULOUS!!!!!!

I won't be for either option. I don't hang all my hopes on one guy or another. Never have, never will.

The only guy I honestly do hang my hopes on is the QB.If for instance Romo goes down.Look out.Same with any team.

You lost absolutely all credibility with that comment about Thomas. You can look no further than last years stats to see that he is a much better player than Akin. In only 5 games Thomas had as many tackles for the season as Akin did for a full 16 game starting schedule.

That's not even a close contest.

As for Carp being able to shine...possibly. I don't know. If he went to the Pats? Sure his chances would increase cause almost anyone could shine at LB in the Patriots system.

that's cool but this current team can't win a playoff game. so we need some help and mainly on offense some speed.

As for the concussion concerns...I do share the concerns of those issues. If ZT can stay healthy I have no concerns that he'll come in and contribute a great deal to this season. But I am worried that he could be more prone to the concussions after last season.

We'll have to see on that one though.
