I agree with the premise hear, but I think many here are talking about a guy with 2 years left on his contract, who was suspended, continually a distraction with off-season stupidity holding out for top dog money....
Don't get me wrong, on the field he is worth top 5 money, but it isn't far fetched in my opinion to be pissed off for him asking considering those things and the risk....
I do hope he signs so we can move on without anymore distractions
Yeah, the risk is obviously his off the field behavior.
I just hope the Cowboys put a clause in his contract that voids most of it if he gets himself suspended again.
If we give him that much guaranteed money we better make it to the SB and he better be the main reason why. Every other team seems to be able to do without the highest paid back in the league.Look on the bright side, if the deal is basically a carbon copy of Gurley's, almost all the guaranteed money is paid in the first three seasons. So if Zeke does regress, we can get out of the deal in three seasons with almost no dead money on the cap.
And honestly, if we plan on him carrying the rock 30+ times a game, he will be used up in three years anyways. Both Zeke and the Cowboys probably know this, that is why the holdout and new contract right now.
So I’ve been informed, I hope they change that next CBA. Since so many people support players not honoring their contracts, why not just let them sit after 2 years if they want to? Hell, let the, sit after 1. According to a lot of Zeke hold out supporters, if a 3rd rounder outplays his meager salary in his first year than he deserves to be paid more so let him demand higher pay and sit if he wants to.Under the current CBA, a rookie contract can only be renegotiated after 3 credited seasons.
That is why Mahommes is not holding out, the Chiefs couldn't give him a new contract even if they wanted to.
And Dak and Cooper are in the last year of their contracts and are set to become unrestricted free agents...…..you do not hold out in the last year of your deal, that would be beyond stupid for them to do that. That is why the only players that hold out either have multiple years on their contract still left, see Zeke, or they have been franchised, see Bell.

At what point doesn’t it become acceptable to not honor the contracts, a guy could get hurt in his secomd year as easily as his 4th. He needs to protect himself and feed his family. Pay the man! Pay them all! If they outplay their draft position and aren’t being paid in accordance with the other players of similar talent that were most recently paid then they deserve more! It’s only fair

Major league baseball players would laugh if those owners came to them with something remotely close to what the NFL does to its playersThis problem will continue to exist as long as the contracts are not guaranteed. The players argument is that the teams and owners do not honor contracts either, players are many times asked to take pay cuts or if they become injured, the team releases them. So a $20 million dollar contract is really not worth $20 million, its only worth what is guaranteed and if the guaranteed money runs out, you can be cut despite having years left on your deal.
Of the major sports leagues, the NFL is the only league where contracts are not fully guaranteed. Until this changes, you are going to have holdouts by players who feel they are not making enough guaranteed money and they dont want to end up like Allen Hurns. You break your leg in a playoff game and the team cuts you despite being under contract because you dont have any guaranteed money left on your deal.
We are just hoping it turns like it’s supposed to. It’s taking forever to get here. Going to have to go back to the liquor store. Lol
FIFY

Jaylon is opening a cryogenic place at the star. JJ has a hand in that.
There are always ways to circumvent the salary cap if one is creative enough. Like the Pats using Brady's gym TB12 as the official gym of the Patriots. They pay an undisclosed fee to TB12 every season, just so happens Tom Brady owns TB12 and none of the money paid to TB12 counts against the salary cap. LOL!
Then everybody wonders why Brady signs below market contracts with the Pats...……….like I said, there are always ways to circumvent the cap.

Pay every player the same. They get paid for each game. Boom. You don’t play you no get paid.So I’ve been informed, I hope they change that next CBA. Let me run this through my fact checker. Highest paid back going to the Super Bowl... oh dang that hasn't happened in six monthsIf we give him that much guaranteed money we better make it to the SB and he better be the main reason why. Every other team seems to be able to do without the highest paid back in the league.
Then they shouldn’t accept the contract if they don’t like the guaranteed amount, it’s that simple. No one is forcing them to sign it but once they do they should be held accountable and I’m not talking about weekly fines. I think once a player signs the contract and agrees to the guaranteed money then the owners should have a right to reclaim that guaranteed money if the players don’t show up to play. That would put a quick stop to most of this. How is right to give someone several million guaranteed dollars for a service, only for that person to not provide that service because they decide they want more money? This problem will continue to exist as long as the contracts are not guaranteed. The players argument is that the teams and owners do not honor contracts either, players are many times asked to take pay cuts or if they become injured, the team releases them.
