By most account: Reggie Nelson had an "average" combine.
By most account: Michael Griffin had a "great" combine.

Which FS would you want as our #1 if we went that route? Does Nelson slide to us because of his combine numbers? Does Griffin move up to us because of his numbers?

Griffin is considered a strong safety. He played at free while Huff was there, but I think most people still consider him a strong safety. having said that I'm a horns fan and love the guy

Doesn't he have some type of off-field issue(s)?

I just choked on my Froot Loops.

Merriweather before Nelson? Dear Lord.

I don't want mini-Haynesworth anywhere near the :starspin.

Merriweather has too many character issues.

We really need to stay away from those types.

I dont care what happened on the combine..they dont tackle people, make plays on the ball or make adjustments to offensive schemes there do they?

Griffin is not half the football player Nelson is, and Griffin isnt going to be a 1st rd pick either

Griffin may make a good strong safety in the NFL. He is poor in coverage, but most strong safeties are not that strong in coverage anyway. People complain about Roy Williams being poor in coverage and Roy is about average to slightly better than for a strong safety. Griffin is worse.

I don't think he tackles that well and that to me can be problematic. I also don't think he is that big of a hitter as he is made out to be. He is a great athlete, but I just don't see that athleticism transferring to the field. At least not for a 1st round pick and especially not to play free safety.

I have to agree. I was just never impressed by Griffin all year. Nelson at least showed up and made some plays in big games at the end of the year.

Holy cow.

First of all, Merriweather. I want nothing to do with him at all. In any round. he was involved in that melee where he was kicking a player. Let someone else deal with him.

I am big on Laron Landry and not really interested in drafting any other safety prospect, especially on Day 1. That said, there is no way on this earth that you can put Griffin ahead of Nelson. This has to be favorite college thinking.

I'm a Horn's fan and the UT secondary got blistered constantly. I don't know who's fault it is, but Ross and Griffin had to be partially responsible for quite a bit of the toasting that was happening to UT.

I do lean towards a particular University :D BUT that aside, I was just curious where people had Griffin on their draft boards. After beating SoCal for the Nat'l Championship, some people had Griffin rated very high; even on par w/ Merriweather, Nelson, and Landry. After this season, his stock wasn't as high BUT he did have a very strong combine. I think he's going to surprise and will continue to move up. I believe he's definitely a 2nd rounder right now.....
