Has this company lost its mind? They have done nothing but kill itself over the pasy 4 months. I was an original member and had special pricing throughout because of how long I had been w/ them. I canceled my membership 3 months back because of these silly decisions being made and how they have ZERO customer service anymore.

Netflix (NFLX) has abandoned its unpopular plan to spin off its DVD-by-mail service and rename it Qwikster, saying it will continue to offer both services through its flagship web site.
The renter told customers in an email and blog post on Monday that they will continue using "one web site, one account and one password" under the Netflix brand for both streaming and DVD-by-mail services.
The decision comes just three weeks after the company initially revealed plans to separate its DVD service and operate the brand under Qwikster.com. It had intended to use Netflix.com for its streaming-only service, forcing dual-service customers to use two separate accounts.

Incredible. Looks like they'll be studying Netflix in "Management Failures and how to Avoid them 101" in the future...

I've been riding out my subscription to see how this all plays out.

I'm glad they are not going to change it. However, I believe a bigger issue will be if they can increase their streaming content with decent movies. If not, plus losing Stars will really ruin the site. I'm already having trouble finding stuff to watch.

When they were going to split the site they said they were going to add game rentals too. That would be very good for their business. Hopefully they still do that.

We get their service through the Wii. 8 bucks a month and an okay selection.

I only have the streaming portion and the new site design is horrible. The only reason I haven't cancelled yet is because I can play a movie for my daughter when she comes and stays with me at work.

Streaming is ok for new subscribers but once you use it for a while, you catch up w/ content.

That's the issue folks want more of.

I needed more content and NF isn't fast enough delivering it. Of course its the studios driving it but NF is paying for that 30 day hold after new release dates.

The email I got today:

Dear Melissa,

It is clear that for many of our members two websites would make things more difficult, so we are going to keep Netflix as one place to go for streaming and DVDs.

This means no change: one website, one account, one password…in other words, no Qwikster.

While the July price change was necessary, we are now done with price changes.

We're constantly improving our streaming selection. We've recently added hundreds of movies from Paramount, Sony, Universal, Fox, Warner Bros., Lionsgate, MGM and Miramax. Plus, in the last couple of weeks alone, we've added over 3,500 TV episodes from ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, USA, E!, Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, ABC Family, Discovery Channel, TLC, SyFy, A&E, History, and PBS.

We value you as a member, and we are committed to making Netflix the best place to get your movies & TV shows.

Respectfully,

The Netflix Team

I quit using Netflix because their instant stream movies NEVER worked well. Hulu plus > Netflix.

We stream all the time and never have issues. However, we're watching kid's shows, not movies.

Isn't Hulu just TV shows? I stream movies so that wouldn't do me any good.

No, they have movies too, but I even used Netflix to watch more shows than movies.

Just another stupid move by Netflix CEO, Reed Hastings...

Last year when he was in Canada launching their streaming only product, they asked him if he thought American would be ticked off because they were getting the service cheaper... His response?

"How much has it been your experience that Americans follow what happens in the world? It's something we'll monitor, but Americans are somewhat self-absorbed.”

I wished they would stream everything and charge 11.00 bucks a month. The selection is ok but could be way better.
