if i was starting a team i would take Dwill over melo ALL DAY! point guard > small forward, plus melo cant play defense.

i wish the spurs would have tried to get him, i dont see how they would have said no to TP9 and Dejuan Blair for him or something along those lines, oh well at least he is in the east now

The Nets are just doing bad business.

Devin Harris AND Favors AND two 1st rounders for a point guard?

Utah now has the pieces to become relevant again. I wonder if this brings Jerry Sloan out of retirement.

You cant explain the teams you root for you know? You hitch your wagon at a young age and thats who you ride with.

Quite a weird dichotomy between Americas team who is the media darling and the Nets who are page 5 material in my area

lololol

Harris was about to get dumped for Caron Butler. This draft sucks and the pick will be about 10th. Next years pick is actually the Warriors pick.

I like this deal a lot for the jazz.. If favors turns out it could work out very well. Going to be funny if Dwill bolts NJ next year and Favors is a premier forward.

doesnt seem like much to give up for possibly the best point guard in the league! he is at worst third best!

Deron Williams is a great player to have, but Mikhail Prokhorov is an idiot.

First thing I would do if I owned the Nets, fire Avery Johnson. While the guy has a ton of basketball knowledge, he is a train-wreck in player management and doesn't seem to learn from some of his mistakes. It is almost like he has tunnel vision.

So you think that it elevates New Jersey to the level of the Knicks, Heat, Celtics, and Bulls? Even Orlando?

Please. They're the 6th best team in the East, IF that.

The future of the NBA is ********..small market teams are quickly fizzling..superstars are leaving teams at will, forcing their hand, joining other superstars in large markets..might as well listen to lebron and begin contraction.. cut 32 teams down to 8..Mia, Boston, chi, NY in the east..la, sa, dal, Vegas in the west..move okc to Vegas..what a ******** league

Exactly.

People are also overstating Devin Harris' value. The guy cannot shoot the 3 worth crap. And to boot, only has a FG% of 42%..

Derrick Favors could turn out to be a good one but who really knows. He's going to be swamped in Utah's front court (Millsap, Jefferson, Kirilenko, Elson, Fesenko).

Draft picks in the NBA are garbage anyways unless you got a top 10 pick, if that. After that, they pretty much all become role players.

the Nets were a bottom 5 team before this. How is this a bad trade?

The damage is done, they wont even make the playoffs , but going forward Deron and Brooklyn is a much bigger draw for Dwight.

If Bynum keeps getting hurt then Lopez is easily the best trade chip to Orlando

while i disagree with you about Prokhorov being an idiot, i agree on Avery Johnson, his style just isnt good with players now a days, sadly. He would be great coaching college instead. He had his issues with the spurs too when he was a player, i remember a story about him trying to make rodman pray or something, lol

please tell me where i said they are better than those teams. all i said is that giving up a very poor mans tony parker, a project power forward and 2 picks (1 in a terrible draft we are about to have) is well worth getting a guy widely regarded as the best point guard in the league! a guy that, unlike steve nash or CP3, can play lock down defense and you dont have to hide on that end of the floor. it sucks that they gave up favors, but he couldnt be the next kwame brown as much as he could be the next chris bosh. what i wanna know is if melo would have signed with the nets in the offseason if he hadnt been traded.

I'm just asking you a question - at no point did I say that you said any of that, however, implying that it's a "great trade" for "possibly the best point guard in the league" generally implies that you think it improves this team. I think what they gave away in the deal breaks them for the next 4 to 5 seasons.

All I'm asking you is if you think the Nets are now on the same level as the Heat, Celtics, Magic, Knicks, or Bulls. I don't think they're even close. And Derrick Rose would have words with you.

i somewhat agree with you but not to that extent, plus miami doesnt deserve to be one of 8 cities with a team, they have 3 superstars and cant even fill their arena? thats sad! ("FAN UP MIAMI!!!"). they should cut it down to 24 and add the players on the contracted teams to the regular draft (with the contracts included) if a former player is not picked, the league should buy out the remainder of their contract. some candidates to be contracted should be....

charlotte, toronto, sactown and minny

my apologies then, but to answer your question, i dont think they are on that same level, but i think they improve drastically from what they were Pre trade, if the season were starting again from now id think they make the playoffs. another thing is that in 4 or 5 years they will have a much easier time selling this team to free agents with Dwill then they would have been able to do with devin harris or favors or any draft pick they would have gotten. (for instance, the pick the nets gave up will probably be used on jimmer freddette, a guy i think compares a lot to kirk heinrech(sp?) or jj reddick)

and i would agree with you rose has been the best PG this year, but Dwill is stronger (saying a lot, rose is very strong) and can post up most PG's plus he plays exceptional defense. It seemed every time they played the hornets he dominated CP3

but anywho, i dont think you could have a conversation about top 3 point guards without including rose and Dwill

ps this will revitalize brook lopez's career!!
