38 or whatever his number is, but he might of had a nice year in this defense.

I have been mostly bashing the guy for a few years but his replacements didn't really get lit up when the pass rush started performing later in the season.
Ok, Watkins showed up bad a lot of times but that was usually due to his trademark poor tackling form.
I really expected Keith Davis and Tra Battle to just get completely abused by TEs and RBs in the passing game. I mostly remember Bradie James getting beat by TEs several times but not so much with Davis and Battle.

So might Roy31/38 have thrived this season with the pressure defense Dallas showed for several games when Wade "took over"?

Ah, what might of been. All of us Roy bashers would of been eating crow. At least for awhile.

I agree, we dearly missed Roy late in the season. I don't think the two long runs by the Ravens would have happened with Roy in there.

I also think, at worst, he gave us depth and another option when the injury bug continued to ravage the secondary.

Well let me say I think I one of the few Roy fans left. Never liked him until he became a Cowboy. I just want to see the guy succeed. He was such a beast playing alongside Woodson and for awhile he was the only thing worth rooting for in his early years in Dallas. But with Roy we probably would've had the same fate.

The criticism he's receivers these last couple of years in Dallas has been uncalled for IMO. Fact is, he's the best we have at the position. Keith Davis filled in the best he could but his even worse than Roy in coverage. Pat Watkins was a guy who has potential and never lived up to it. Maybe he still can reach that potential but as of right now Roy is the best at the position and if he's willing i'd like to see him back with this team and see how well he can play with a consistent pass rush. He's never had it his whole career. And that's not a excuse for Roy. He's flat out horrible in coverage. However, like most safeties in the league. The guys that aren't bad in coverage a handful and happen to be the best in the league(ex: Ed Reed, Polamala, etc)

i do believe Roy is ''faster'' than Davis back there. he can tackle a lot better than Watkins. (boy he got owned by a QB on that one tackle he tried) battle? next !!!

Roy might not be the best in the league, but better than the others he is...

The fact that our safeties suck so bad that Roy38 is actually looking good in comparision is kinda the problem.

Its like, Roy38 cant cover my grandmother but he brings the wood in the run game while our current safeties cant cover or play the run.

I guess Roy38 is the "lessor of two evils".

I still think Roy will be back next year, and I think he'll have a good year. I think he would have this year too.

I agree on all of the above. I think Roy would've had his best year in recent years. Lost some weight, the new number change. I expected him to be solid this year.
