Never Satisfied

I’ll be the first one to agree—they started out slow, they DO have areas of concern, and fans are right to be tired of “sweating it out” against teams with less talent, but can we EVER enjoy a win as a fanbase?

We beat a division rival by 19 on the road, and all the pundits are saying is they don’t trust Dallas to win the East and/or we beat the Giants because of a cat.
I think the annoying fans you speak of, the Debbie Downers, fall into a couple categories.
  1. Those who hate the owner or the coach or the QB or all 3 so bad that they want to turn every win or loss into unending diatribes about them.
  2. Those who think it’s more fun and makes then sound intelligent to play NFL expert analyst and attack every play that isn’t perfect, whether it’s a player, coach, front office, referee, or announcer. Personally, I blame some of this joy-sucking on Parcells who never won anything in Dallas. Many seem to think they will be HOF fans if they never enjoy a victory and, like Parcells, have to be negative and emphasize every obvious aspect that needs to improve.

We have a lot of cleaning up to do.

This is the key. Everyone wants perfection now, but how often in the NFL does a team roll all season and in the playoffs. The teams that win in the playoffs and make it to conference championship games are not teams that went 16-0, not even teams that always had a bye week. The most important thing to playoff success, as I see it, is being healthy at the right time and finding your groove, getting on a roll, playing your best ball, peaking at the right time. This Cowboys team will get better in November, play it’s best in December, and roll into January hot and healthy.....or it won’t. That’s what makes it interesting and fun to watch, and what allows me to enjoy the games, all of them.

I’m not preoccupied with what we were last night. I want to see what we can be and watch to see if we get there.

A lot around here fall onto category 2

That game was pretty good. Not perfect but the defense noticeably stepped up to the point where I wonder if Bennett will end up being the missing piece. Zeke also had his best game of the year and was changing direction to make people miss. If you weren't happy with last night than I don't know what to say.

There are people who will simply comment on games and pick out strengths and weaknesses. I don't see a problem with that. You also have the ongoing Dak war where you have to extreme groups of people who either give him all the credit for everything or refuse to give him credit for anything. Their war drags everyone else in and turns every game, win or loss, into an ugly debating exercise.

If we do not at least make the NFC Championship game this year, it's time to clean house....sort of. The FO should one Fire Jason Garrett (no surprise there I'm sure) and then two trade Dak Prescott. Dak is a soldier, and a good QB but he lacks two KEY components to be a great QB in the NFL. He is still inaccurate, off the top I can think of INT's he threw against WAS, GB, and NO that a fourth year QB should not be making (I'll add the one from last night against the NYG as well). And unless you're Skip Bayless those INT's where his fault. He also lacks pocket awareness, he simply takes too many unnecessary sacks. I like the guy but unless we make it deep in the OFF's I think he reached his ceiling. So again, we trade Dak. We should trade him to the Dolphins for a First Rounder (maybe some other picks as well but a First is a must.) The the Cowboys should draft Jalen Hurts, and hire Lincoln Riley as the new HC. We'll have Jalen on a rookie deal, the FO can give deals to players like LVE, and Cooper now that Dak is off the books. They'll be able to afford Jamal Adams as well. :star:

Lol at the fact that you think we're going to get Jalen Hurts. This team, once again, is too good to get a draft pick good enough to get him, and on top of that, Stephen Jones' son is a freshman. He'll be coming here sooner rather than later and you know Stephen is going to pick him up unless another team snags him. Lincoln Riley is a wildcard though...I'm more than sure he's not going to leave Oklahoma though.

I know how big you guys are on DT's so if it's a stud on the market for the right price in the off-season sign him as well. Or address the need in the draft, but remember the Foreskins (Commanders) have a couple first rounders on there Dline, from Alabama, and they are ranked 20th this year in total defense. Just remember that for those of you ramping and raving about about beefing up the DT position. It's time to cut ties with Sean Lee as well. Which is more money off the books. He's healthy now, and playing well but only because he does not have to take as many reps as he once did. If we had to rely on him for 16 games, I think we all know the end results. Fire Marinelli as well, and make Kris Richard the new DC. So now we have The HC Lincoln, OC Moore, and the DC Richard. I like the that trio coming together and building the rest of the coaching staff together. Whether they choose to promote within the organization or else where. It's a copy cat league, we know we aren't getting old heads like Bellichick or Payton as the HC so it's time to go young like the Rams, Greenbay, 49ers, Lions and Bills. I know that formula hasn't worked out so far for teams like the Bears, Jets, and Browns but those teams aren't nearly as talented as we are. Jalen hurts with our oline, and RB he can lean on like Zeke plus the weapons on the outside? I like our chances. I mean what do we have to lose, especially if we already know what we have in Dak?! IF Dak was really that guy the FO would've been paid him whatever he wants. And if Dak is not willing to take a team friendly deal, so we can afford other play makers AND is underachieving that's even more of reason to cut ties with him. Thanks For Reading. #DC4L :star:
1. There will be no firing of Garrett. He's in the final year of his contract. He will either be given a new contract or he won't. I don't know why "fans" do not know/understand this.
2. Let's say we trade Dak and draft Hurts. What happens if we get the Alabama version of Hurts that got benched? Then where will we be?
3. Dak will be our QB for the foreseeable future. Just accept it.

Any win in the NFL is a good win, especially on the road against a division opponent. Was it perfect? No, but no game ever is. Their are several things Dallas needs to clean up before the Minn game. The way the defense has played the last 2 weeks is encouraging. We tend to forget that the team on the other side (no matter their record) still gets paid to play this game, they have pride, they are competitive, etc.

That's why I said trade Dak to the Dolphins the Dolphins need a QB they'll get Dak and we take there early draft spot and get Jalen.

1. If we don't give him a new contract either way he's as good as gone regardless right?
2. What if we get the Oklahoma version of Hurts? With Riley as our new HC? Then what?
3. Once he gets a deal from our FO, I'll accept it. Until then, do I really have to? lol

So much this!!!
Yes it was ugly to watch that first half and yes that wouldn't get it done versus a good team but good grief this is the NFL.
You aren't going to roll teams by 30 every week.
Crying about road wins by 17 points?? ROFL.

I agree 100%. seems like some of our fans hate more than our haters. its terrible.

I'll take the W, but at the same time I wish some of you would quit exaggerating the W as an argument for those that say they aren't impressed. The Cowboys took over in the 4th and all game long until then we lucked out many times with not being down.

It would be different if our team consistently beat good teams and we were playing a tough division game. Too often do we struggle when it should be convincing.

We won and that's all we can ask for. It's no different than when we were 3-0 and I was still cautious about facing off against better teams then we get smacked in the mouth for 3 straight losses.

We play the Vikings, Lions, Patriots, Bills, Bears, Rams, and Eagles.

This is a good test for the team. Can we go 5-2 or better in this stretch and be competitive in the losses Or are we going to look the part of when we were losing 3 straight?

All I'm saying is that I'm glad we won, I'm glad the oline is healthy. We need Lee to stay healthy and we need the dline to continue to be productive. But I would not be surprised to see the the gaping run defense, soft pass coverage, and lack of offensive points return in this stretch.

It's just going to take time for this team to show they are legitimate. Don't worry about the fans that are skeptical, just enjoy the W.

Yes, we can enjoy a win. That victory over the Eagles was extremely satisfying. However, don't expect me to ignore the first half of Monday night's game against the Giants just because they finally pulled their collective heads out of their collective butts in the second half. They are just coming off a bye week and should have had the start of that game well scripted and executed. That should be your best football just because you've had so much time to plan it out and practice it. It's an indictment on the coaching that after a bye week, the Cowboys put a crappy product like that on the field in the first half. If I'm wrong, please tell me why.

IMO, the bad start was on Dak’s pick. Mostly.

I did not expect to see a great game last night. I thought the Cowboys would come out a little flat because of the butt whooping they laid on the Eagles, the bye week and do we think we're the only ones that know the real second half of the season begins Sunday night?

The coaching staff could harp on trap game all week and every one of those players was looking at film of a really bad team, particularly on those lines. And that secondary has the most targeted CB in the NFL. How in the hell do they get up against that?

Some rag on the Cowboys for playing down to the competition when almost every team does that, how do you think "any given Sunday" came about? There is not one element of the Giants that can equal the Cowboys, they know it and getting all jazzed about that was a tall order. They know they're got the gauntlet coming up and they'll need all hands on deck, I think they just wanted to get to NY, get the win and get the hell out with the team intact.

I don't know anymore about the Cowboys than I did before this game but didn't expect to because of the level of competition but that changes with the next two games and the rest of the season except for getting a game with the Skins. They did what they needed to do, it wasn't pretty, no style points but they maintained their lead in the East and that's all that really mattered about that game.
