New $3 million addition could put Cowboys ahead of curve in revolutionizing red-zone play

football is a trend not a stragety, you ll never know what will win a game so you cant design contracts by that. 1 play wins the game sometimes. you dont pay per winnable play.
The trend for the last 60 years has been to keep your best QB on the field for as much as possible while you’re on offense. Not one Super Bowl champion has ignored this strategy.

And absolutely you pay for winning; you pay the players to make the plays that increase your winning probability. Thats why Dak was paid. The teams that don’t do this are the ones that don’t win

If you don’t believe he’s your best possible way to win a football game, you get rid of that contract as soon as possible.

If that is not the case, then you want him on the field as much as possible; there isn’t really an in between. Star QBs in the NFL are all Michael Jordans to their respective team, that’s how important the position is. You don’t bring in the backup for a trick play multiple times a game. When has that ever been effective?
Think everyone knows that Dak's contract was a horrible decision by the front office. If having Milton run some gadget plays works Daks contract shouldn't keep the coaching staff from using him for some plays.

So he's a Herder?
No, he’s part of the herd. He does seem to fit in the Hater herd more so than the Homer herd. That’s probably because there are more haters here probably because he just goes with the flow of whatever anyone else says even the likes of Fisher.

but think about this if that's the only time he comes in the game he's not actually running an entire possession everybody knows it's coming
But that's just it.

You're absolutely correct that if you only use it when you're actually going to have him run the ball, that's just telegraphing plays.

Mind you, the situation isn't all that different from thinking about how you go about using Turpin effectively. You can't do jet sweeps and WR screens and otherwise get the ball to Turpin every time he comes in for a snap or two or three.

To be fair to your point, Milton has to not only be a runner... not only be able to hand the ball to a RB... but has to be a legit passing threat to the degree that... you knew this name was bound to surface... Taysom Hill ...ever was that.

If he can't be that, then I'm totally on your side of the discussion. He doesn't have to be starter quality, but he does have to be adequate if the play calls for him to throw it.

What's tedious to me is we always hear... and I do mean always... "Our coaches just aren't creative enough. They don't think make the defense think. They don't scheme well enough. They run the same tired plays from the same tired formations." We similarly hear, "Our offense doesn't play to the strengths of the roster."

Don't we? Tell me I'm wrong.

Okay, so this is exactly the kind of play design and play calling that answers those (sometimes valid, sometimes not) criticisms.

(And I just need to apologize genuinely... reading your posts often is something like playing football on the muddiest field you ever played on... I get a little momentum, then feel my foot sink into the turf and I get stymied for a moment, and it just becomes more work to read than I feel like exerting. You've explained before that you use voice to text, which is fine, but just as you get to make that choice for yourself, so the rest of us get to choose when and how much effort we want to put into reading.)

It was a great decision. Every team needs a top notch NFL QB to win it all and that’s what Dak is despite what you read here. And the only folks who say Dak sucks are CZ members and trolls.

I hope this is sarcasm. Dak isn't the best overall player in the league. (Not even close to it)

The only Dak supporters left have completely lost their marbles, so I wouldn't rule ANYTHING out in terms of what they believe. On any subject.

was just being silly, he gives us our best chance, but I don't think he's able to take us all the way

NO did it for years.
It works if done right.
And regardless of daks pay etc, he doesnt need to play every play.Or all the time.

Dark Prescott is the highest paid player in the history of organized football. There is no scenario where taking him off the field makes sense
Particularly if Joe Milton is his replacement.

If you consider Joe Milton the solution to your red zone problems you’re jumping out of the frying pan into the fire. The off season is the time for fans to delude themselves, but there is a boundary. Beyond which is fantasy. And not the good kind.
