The following question got brought up by a fan yesterday during post game calls, and I've thought the same thing for years...Why do our new acquisitions always seem to take weeks to actually see the field???? I just do not get it??? Baker Mayfield can take the field...at QB....and learn enough in a couple days....to win a game??? Why wasn't TY Hilton on the field yesterday??? You mean to tell me at the very least, they couldn't have had 3-4 of his favorite plays drawn up and called for him??? Ridiculous....why do we bother ever acquiring anyone if we are gonna drag our feet using them???

Pretty obvious isnt it? Baker Mayfield HAD to play.

Were not desperate for WR help, been going the whole year without Hilton. So what is the rush?

I know many of you lose your minds every time we lose, but its just football. Happens.

They try and be pragmatic about letting these guys jump in there.

There is a difference between a guy like Mayfield who is younger and played all year getting thrown right in and a 40 year old T who missed all of TC and a 33 year old WR who didn't play all year. You are asking for an injury if you throw them right in.

If it is the playoffs, you would but this is a longer term (for this year) prospect.

I agree with you here. I've always liked Pete Carroll for this. He made the call in starting Russell Wilson his rookie year and would claim guys off waivers and get them in a game right away to see what they've got. This team waited until Felix Jones got hurt to discover they had a gold mine in Murray (David Irving too) and now have waited until Pollard's contract year to use him to his potential besides picking guys up and nursing them into the lineup over several weeks.

Team probably being cautious (over cautious?) with an aging, declining WR whose had struggles with soft tissue injuries.
I expect Hilton next week vs Eagles on a.limited basis. Limited package.
I heard that reasoning too....I long for the day where Parcells decided "for the player" if he would be available or not. Did you ever stop to think how few "nagging" injuries we seemed to have under him as HC???

This organization hasn't been in a rush for 26 years.
