Wow, didn't Troy restructure his contract to get Deion on the team? I hope this isn't true. Of course, by 99 Troy had become a bit of an endzone int prone, statute in the pocket. I think Troy did have it in for Gailey, but Gailey was none to kind to Irvin either, basically benching him on 3rd downs for the much heralded Jeff Ogden. He also benched Emmitt a fair amount for Chris Warren, if my memory serves me correct.

He didn't bench Emmitt for Warren, Warren came in as a 3rd down back and substituted for Emmitt a couple of series a game. Considering that in the past that back-up/occasional plug-in role had been held by the likes of Derrik Lassic, Curvin Richards, Lincoln Coleman, and Sherman Williams, having a former multiple 1,000 yard rusher with a couple of Pro Bowls on his resume giving him an occasional breather in Warren was certainly no slight to Smith.

Back when Gailey had his own website a few years ago relatively early in his tenure as the Georgia Tech coach, Smith was one of the ones with a very ringing endorsement type of quote on the site, saying that Gailey was responsible for resurrecting his career in the late 90s.

Yes, didn't Aikman restructure his contract so Deion could be on the Cowobys?

He likely did, but that was 1995 and even then, Aikman certainly wouldn't have had to like Sanders to be willing to do his part to bring a Super Bowl to Dallas, especially after the bitter taste left in everyone's mouth following the 1994 NFC Championship Game.

Apparently things got strained between them once they were both on the team and in the locker room. Perhaps it started with Sanders having somewhat of a disdain for practice, which wouldn't have sat well with Aikman.

Even if true, who cares, they won and that is all that matters.

They are people and they still live. Racism always matters!
