Over the CAP has them at $22.8, Sportrac has it at $26.4. I have no idea what they have accounted for or not. On June 1 I believe they get a $6.8 million CAP spending reduction for Zeke but free agency will be over by then.

Out of their current CAP status they have to pay rookies, so figure something like $5 million for that. They have enough to sign a DT and still have some wiggle room for whatever else turns up.
They can use Zeke's cap savings in June to pay for the Draft contracts.

If you sign OBJ for big bucks….then why did you let Amari Cooper go Out the door? At least with him, his resume for I is much cleaner.
I get that but today is today. And we need another impactful WR. Now I wouldn’t sign OBJ for cooper money and I don’t think anyone will. But if some teams wants to then let them.
There are still other options but most require a trade. I think you could add a good WR without using 26 to get them or paying cooper money. But I think you have to let reality set in for some teams and players. Then you can find a guy

That was the reason! Oh…okay….I’m sure Jerry would have been upset with Cole Beasley for the same reason had he stayed in Dallas.
I don’t think it was any one thing but several things including his cost, availability, attitude and maybe more

Assuming Spotrac is correct, the Cowboys now have $26.5M in cap space after the Tyron Smith restructure and will get another $10.9M after 6/1 when Zeke's 2023 salary goes away.

The post 6/1 savings will give them room to operate during the season or roll into next year. The draft class is expected to cost them $5.7M in cap space (less than the $8.5M in total salary due to the rule of 51). They have plenty of space to do what they want with regards to free agents and/or trades and to extend some of their own (probably only Diggs this year of the big $ guys) as well. Most likely they won't use it all and will roll some into next year. But who knows, Jerry may lock Stephen in a closet and "make it rain"

So they have 16 really or 36 including the money from ZEKE

Diggs can go. Corners like him are easy to replace.
 In 2021 he earned First Team All-Pro recognition. Those type of players aren't easy to replace.
He is nothing special and cost us the niners game when he intentionally whiffed on kittles circus catch.
Diggs not tackling Skittles isn't the reason the Cowboys lost to the 49ers.

BUT its known fact you should get them cheap now or pay more later,.i didn't make it up.

another thing, zeke didn't stop producing because he got paid get over that stupid narrative , 2019 had very good season, 2020 remember dak went down , 11 OL variations and 4 qbs used it was terrible season for the team, zekes didnt stop running he had no one opening holes or to play with as threat at QB, 2021 8 games into the season running great 5.2 YPC seemed fresh and ready for rebound season, got hurt played hurt the last 9 games but before that ran hard ran with effort and looked fresh, 2022 same thing looked great early, dont tell me he stopped producing with his role cut in half, played hurt and still 15 games 850 yards, 12 tds and had bad thigh and knee he dealt with..

no facts to support he just stopped playing hard getting his bag. thats a piss poor SM narrative created by haters. I can go game by game from 2019-2022 and how he actually wasnt responsible for his downfall, nothing to do with money, simply bad timing. Oh 2019 KM reign of yards are yards OC . mix and match OL , injuries along said OL, pass happy play calls, injurers etc. nothing to do with being content with money..its the opposite played hurt , did all he could given circumstances.

Just because that happened with a few players doesn't mean that how you conduct business the rest of the way, so we shouldnt pay Parsons because of what happened with Lee and Jaylon?? make him wait 5 years LMAO..no that not how you do it..lock them up if you think they are the ones, so its cheaper now.

Zeke always ran hard. I think part of what changed besides plain old tread on the tires was his ability to produce through injuries.

He either got more digned up as his career went on or stopped being able to overcome those dings so quickly.

I'm sure oline injuries impacted him later in the season as well, but to begin each year Zeke ran very well. Unfortunately when we needed our run game the most he appeared worn down.

He had nearly 600 carries at Ohio State then came to Dallas and eclipsed the 300 carry mark 3 times. Dude was a physical work horse, and the rigors he put his body through are admirable.

true just saying tired of hearing he got paid and quit, was quite the opposite , played hurt gave it his all showed flashes of his old self-many time before getting inured 2 years in a row,.3rd al time DC RB ..thta says something put up better numbers then Terell Davis in the same 7 year career, still #1 in many category's and top 3 since 2016 IN ALL category's. id say that heck of a career for a very misunderstood and often hated as a player in the zone..

he deserves soem respect. i just stuck his career ranking meme in my avatar.,. Pretty impressive, i have no doubt he would have had 3 consecutive rushing titles right out of college had he not been suspended and that impressive start to career.

Just note, Smith's cap hit could be bigger than that as he has game incentives. So the Cowboys will account for that in their cap. Essentially, Elliott's June 1 savings will cover Tyron's increasing cap hit based on games played, etc.
Tyron’s cap hit won’t change until 2024. That’s when the bill comes due.

Yeah, heck of a player who had a ton of grit.

I still believe he was railroaded on that suspension.

Like I said in other posts, he grew up in our presence. A lot of the crap he gets is because of his immaturity early on, and the hold out/contract. It's also the same curse many of our recent greats have gone through. We never won anything of note while he was here. Imagine the way we'd talk about Zeke, Dez or Romo for example, if they actually got a ring.
