New Defensive Coordinator?

I was also looking at it as a way to get his salary off the books since he will not be starting for us.

I have had this thought as well ….. Don't think JG would go for it as GW would probably tell him off pretty quickly
Which is more so the reason lol. Gregg williams runs an aggressive 4-3 that we already have the team built for.

We just need a DC that the players buy into and that can force turnovers, I'm really shocked we don't cause more turnovers with the speed we have on defense. Back in the 90's our D wasn't the best but we had strippers, meaning a D who gang tackle and strip for the ball. A couple turnovers a game in the opponents territory leads to a lot more easy victories I sure know that

Whoa, so I am guessing because lee can see things on the field and make plays he therefore can do the same thing as A-DC while focusing on more than the just the LB position...
I think Lee has a future in coaching but a DC is a few years down the road
You don’t make DC two yrs after retiring but I think he has some traits that lend itself to being a coach

I want Gregg Williams if Cleveland fires him. Please Jerry just listen to this one post you can ignore all my other ones forever.
if Gregg Williams becomes available i'd latch on to him like an alabama tick on a dog in the summer. i'm guessing browns looking for someone to further Mayfield's career and wouldn't choose Williams as their hc. but they might still want him to be the dc. bears watching.

I think they sit down with Lee and see how much longer he plans to play
If it’s another year they let him play out
If he thinks he’s got several more years and still wants to start they probably let him go chase that dream
Ideally he plays out and learns under Richards for couple years as an asst coach

Kellen Moore as QB coach, it would not surprise me if they hire Kareem Larrimore to be the DC.

Todd Bowles.

He's better than Kris Richard right now.

Todd Bowles is one of the top guys for me
If Richards accepts a HC job and Marinelli retires, I would definitely take a look at Bowles. Very good defensive guy and seems to adapt defenses well to the personnel and opponents.

If we are doing former cowboys players I elect Dat Nguyen
He's my all-time favorite football player. Followed him since he 2was at Rockport-Fulton HS. I would LOVE if Dat came back to coach, but he's doing the real estate business now unfortunately

I think this is by far the most ill thought out ideas EVER!!!
I think what you just said is not well thought out at all! There are a ton of X players who become successful HC and Coordinators.

Personally, I hope Lee is able to stay healthy( I know not likely ) for a few more years and play for us, and then join the coaching staff.

If Richard leaves.....

Crazy Idea... SEAN LEE as the asst. defensive coordinator.

Pay him to coach next season. Not sure if this takes his salary off the salary cap if he retires? He is a student of the game. Keep Linehan around for one season to prepare him to take over fully the following year. Eventually I could see him as the future Head coach.

What do you think?

I assume you meant Marinelli instead of Linehan, but I think it all depends on whether Lee would be willing to retire from playing. I suspect he won't be willing to do that, but who knows? I honestly don't see him as a future head coach because he is so soft spoken and seemingly not the kind of guy who wants to be in the spotlight, which goes with the territory. I think he would be a great LB coach, and maybe eventually a D-Coordinator, but I don't know that one season would be enough to prepare him for that.
