Just a keen appreciation for Our native language (I won't risk using the phrase "Mother tongue")
This might help some folks understand what native Texans are sayin
  • Y’all – used in place of you all or you guys ALWAYS
  • Howdy – common greeting among Texans meaning “how do you do?”
  • Ain’t – are not
  • Uh huh – Yes
  • Over yonder – used in place of over there
  • Tuckered out – used instead of exhausted
  • Right quick – used in place of quickly
  • Conniption fit – to get upset and and raise a ruckus. Example – “My momma is fixin’ tuh have a conniption fit if you don’t do them dishes right quick.”
  • Supper – dinner
  • Looker – an attractive woman
  • Yankee anyone who lives north of the Red River
  • Tank – pond
  • Sure’nuff (one word) – sure enough – usually used to express agreement. Example – “Dang that girl’s a looker.” “Yep, she sure’nuff is.”
  • Coke – any type of soda
    • Fixin’ tuh – used in place of about to. Example – “I’m fixin’ tuh knock you silly Jethro.”
    • All worked up or all riled up – arousal of some sort. Example – “Dangit, now you got Bubba all worked up for nothin’.”
    • Ah’ mo – I’m going to. Example – “Ah’ mo get back to work”
    • Ain’tchya (one word) – aren’t you?
    • Eat up – to be consumed/overtaken by. Example – “We got eat up by them skeeters (mosquitos).” Example 2. When I would do something dumb around my grandpa, he would say “Tyler Cole, you’re just all eat up with the dumbness ain’tchya?”
    • in’t my first rodeo – not your first time doing something
    • Whole nuther thang – something else entirely
    • Big hat, no cattle – all talk and no action
    • Wangs Chicken wings
    • Dad gum it Something went wrong
    • Skeeters Mosquitoes
    • Ice box Everywhere else, this means a place to store ice, or the freezer. Here, a freezer is a freezer, and an icebox is the part where you DON'T store ice, a.k.a. the fridge. Confused yet?
    • Fast food = Whataburger
    • Dern tootin = agreed or agree
    • Warsh = wash
    • Britches = Something capn b does not wear
    • Smush = squash

As a word it means to transform in a radical or magical manner.
But it's more than a word, the sensual delight of reading it aloud whilst typing, rolling and caressing it, with a decadent elongated penultimate syllable, aaaah, sheer bliss.

Mah bahd.
