This new kickoff rule is a disaster. Notwithstanding the fact that Aubrey hasn't figured it out yet, it's turning the league into arena football. I bet the average starting field position is the 35 this year. A couple first downs and you are in four down territory. It's like we are playing on half the field. I'd rather just kill the kickoff and go back to starting at the 20.

Average after week 1 was about 29-30 yard line. That's just a slight increase over previous years.

Just because Dallas was terrible on coverage doesn't mean that's what is going on league wide.

The kickoff should be an important play. Returns are good.

there are several return TDs already, this 35 yard TB rule is working well.

There are other ways to encourage returns that don't cut the field in half and turn it into arena football.

For instance, get rid of touchbacks altogether and require a return and allow the defensive players to start covering as soon as the ball is kicked, not when it is caught.

It’s doing what it was designed to do. Add excitement to the game.

I don’t know how you get rid of touchbacks. If ball is kicked thru the endzone you can’t return it.

The answer to me is simple...Move the Kickoff back to the 25 yard line and then have a player size limit which will prohibit the larger collisions that the safety gurus are worried about. Bring some fun and speed back into the game

They’ll figure it out

What if you kickoff from wherever spit you decided to kick your extra point from??

So with us we would have Aubrey kick his xp from what the 50?

And then we get to kick off from there

Completely agree. We are playing flag football out here now.

I want it to return to the 20 yard line. That is freaking plenty. The offense is given 1/5 of the field and has to move the other 4/5.

I like exciting football as well but there has to be a balance.

Offense makes 2 first downs and they are nearly in field goal range, that's ridiculous.

We are slowly making football a contactless sport for the short attention span.

I like that there are more returns, but field position is way out of whack. Keep tweaking

Na man, all we need is 15 yards and we are in scoring range. This rule should directly benefit us.

It’s not even just Dallas though. We lost Turpin and they put anyone back there from Tolbert and Sanders….Sanders got us to the 32 yard line. That’s ridiculous. They need to change something.

Tell you what if Aubrey keeps kicking 64 yarders the league will change some things. Only 2 or 3 first downs and you’re in field goal range.

This is exactly right.. We benefit more than any team in the league because of this rule.. We could almost win every game, settling for field goals.. This advantage for us is similar to the Egal's tush push..

Yep,DT Thinks So

They should allow "P for K" like we did as kids - Punt for Kick

Can you imagine a Punt kick-off? LOLOL

Agree totally with this topic. Can we please go back to the way kickoffs were a couple years ago? It gives teams unfair advantages offensively and causes more harm than good. Players are actually getting injured more often than they were previously. This needs fixed and they can do it quick.

Yes, but it can work against you too. Your defense is immediately at a deficit, meaning much shorter field. It's not fair. Plus injuries are a bigger issue with these current rules.
