New Kirwan mock has Dallas selecting Thomas and Jones

Green Bay taking a QB in round 1, as a developmental guy? LOL....

I like this draft a lot, Thomas can learn from TO for a year or two before really hitting No.1 receiver status and Jones is a great compliment to MBIII.

what an awful mock? if the draft unfolded like this, i'd much rather go with jonathan stewart at the 22nd and agib talib at 28th, and i won't take that safety in the 2nd round like kirwan had suggested. if i have to take a safe in the 2nd round, then i think i would take kenny phillips from miami who was not drafted within the first two rounds of the kirwan mockery.

I think we need a RB and WR, but I cannot see how we possibly can take two offensive players with our first round picks. No matter how good we are on offense, until we get our defensive secondary finally where we need it to be we will not win a superbowl.

I agree but that also depends on who is still on the board in the 1st rd. I want a CB but I don't want to take a CB who is not looked at as a 1st rd prospect in the 1st rd. If the top CB are gone maybe we look to the 2nd rd. In other words don't reach for players based solely on position.

I'm warming to the idea of Thomas, possibly, but I don't see how we leave round 1 without a CB, and yes that includes if we get Adam "I Probably Won't Stay Out Of Trouble And Therefor Likely Won't Play" Jones in a trade.

That's what many posters aren't considering. There aren't any more corners with first-round value. Sorry, but Talib's failed drug tests are a problem, especially to take a chance on him in the first round. We're going to bring in PacMan, presumeably. We don't need any more "risk" players.

McKelvin, Cromartie, Cason and Jenkins are all gone, according to Kiwan's draft.

There aren't any more quality corners with a first-round tag (I've already addressed A.T.).

Therefore, you go Thomas (who has tremendous upside and has the measureables and speed for a first round pick). I would go Stewart rather than Jones, but I think Jones is going to go early in the second if he doesn't go in the bottom of the first.

And the Cowboys desperately need at least two running backs because there's nothing behind Marion Barber. Jones might have the speed, but Stewart has the speed (slightly slower than Jones) and power, which may be needed more as the season progresses.

I'm warming to the Felix Jones pick. So I don't think that would be a bad first round for the Cowboys.

With all the first round picks we have used on the defensive side of the ball the past, what 8 years, it is a shame we still would find ourselves in need of, once again, drafting a defensive player in the 1st. It would be very nice for us to be able to give our O some juice by using both picks on that side of the ball.

yeah look where a great offense has gotten us. Nowhere, and now some of you want more offense.

This is just my opinion, but I see six CB's worthy of a first round grade, and I think one of those six are going to be there. It is just what the team view is about how many CB's are worthy of a first round.

True. I think the bigger mistake than not taking a CB in the 1st is to take a CB who is not considered 1st rd talent. In the meantime you end up passing on other position in the draft who are grading out much higher. I think need always plays a part but BPA who fills a need in my view is the best way to go

I don't disagree with you about the idea we need a CB, but wouldn't your argument suggest the exact oppostite of what you are arguing?......that we would need better offensive production since our current offense hasn't gotten us anywhere? It seems to me that in our past 2 playoff defeats our D has played pretty well with our O being able to score only around 20 points?
