Metallica hasn't recorded anything worth a damn since 1988. This new stuff is much better than their other late stuff, but the damage has been done.

James needs to quit taking his daughter to ballet (Mom could do that) and start drinking beer and whiskey again. "Some Kind Of Monster" made him look like an egotistical jerk that wanted to write soft rock hits. But true Mr. Tomson, early Metallica can't be touched. Ever. At all. In no way.

Honestly, those are probably my 3 least favorite songs on the album. I mean, I like them, but compared to Unforgiven III or That Was Just Your Life or All Nightmare Long?

NOW... lemme say they have apparently realized the public relations fiasco here and withdrawn any complaints against bloggers. And yes the reviews for the most part have been good. Still, to me this is too much of the same ole same ole nonsense from them.

I enjoyed the Black album and I like a few songs of the other stuff but overall they have been meh

I've absolutely HATED everything they've stood for in the last 18 years, and this is a perfect example of why, but I'll still listen to RTL and MOP all day.

I'll just download it for free, and pay for everything else.

You already said it, but I get the impression that it was their management that went a little loony and when the band found out, they retracted it. It seems their management needs to calm the hell down.

honestly guys wait till you hear the cd, its modern metallica, of course, but i can easily see more than half the album being the bridge between ...and justice for all and the black album

Well I just listened to Unforgiven III on youtube (at least I think it was the right song, there are so many fakes), and I gotta say...it sucked as well.
