I think he's good but to not be able to show up against your biggest rivals in the biggest game of your college career its a shame and not being able to get into the endzone against and appalachian st is ridic but he is a good prospect just not good for dallas

Yeah his production against Ohio St. was pretty bad this year, I actually think he had about 4 or 5 dropped passes in that game. Reminded me of that 49ers game where TO couldn't hold on to the ball to save his life and then he caught the game winner...only Manningham never redeemed himself lol. Those are the only two games where I can really remember a WR struggling to catch the ball so consistently. I'm not sure what was up in that game though, but I do know that was Manninghams worst game against Ohio St in his career. In his freshman and sophomore year he had right around 65 and 85 yards, both of which are decent games considering his experience level at the time. If Manningham hadn't been so inconsistent catching the ball in the game this year he most likely would have had a career high, it's not that he wasn't getting open, he just kind of defeated himself.

I do think he'd be a good prospect for Dallas though. The biggest knock on him right now is his ability to be physical beating the jam, but I think we're in a situation where we could just have him in the slot, allowing him to get free releases. It would allow him to produce this year while he worked on his release techniques and his strength at the NFL level. I think he shows the ability to create separation on all of his routes though, especially when he's given a cushion. He'd also provide the deep threat we missed with the injury of Glenn this season.

I don't know that Manningham will ever be a true #1 WR but I do think he could have similar production to Santonio Holmes if he gets in the right situation. I'm certainly not advocating taking Manningham at 22, especially if a top CB is still there, but I think once you get to pick 28, or into the early 2nd round, it looks like a more reasonable option.

Just found this while looking at college recruiting but it adds to the Mario Manningham discussion, here are Todd McShay's thoughts on Manningham.

Mario Manningham, on the other hand, fits the new mold of a No. 1 receiver in the NFL. Manningham is shorter, leaner and won't generate as much fear as Kelly and Sweed on the perimeter. But it won't take long for opposing defensive coordinators to recognize his big-play potential. There isn't a savvier route-runner or more clutch receiver in this class than Manningham, who took 27 of his 137 career receptions to the end zone.
