I wouldn't either, I think a 5th is high enough since we have the first pick in the 5th round thanks to the trade of Ferguson. If they expect more, they'll have to take a 5th and a 7th or at most a 5th and a 6th.

i thought it was the 6th

If we trade a 4th or 5th rounder for Pacman, I heard the guy from DFW sports say that he'd start opposite Newman, we'd move Henry to F.S. and Hamlin to S.S. and Roy would play only limited snaps, which makes sense.
Plus Henry would then be our 3rd C.B. on passing downs with Hamlin and Watkins back at safety.
So, this takes away any pressing needs to get a top corner in the draft in round 1 for sure, maybe even not till round 3 since we'l only need depth at that point.

I am also thinking Jerry is gonna work out a trade for Roy Williams (W.R.) or Chad Johnson with one of our 1st rounders (say #22).
So right now for this mock, we gave up our 4th fror Pacman and #22 for Roy Williams lets say.

Now this might sound off the wall, but why not go for Desean Jackson if he's there at #28?
What player at #28 would make more of an impact?
He'd VASTLY improve our return game and he'd be yet ANOTHER THREAT on offense for teams to worry about making our offense virtually unstoppable.
I mean can you imagine MB111 in the backfield in a one back set with T.O. on one side, Roy Williams ont he other, Witten at T.E. and Jackson in the slot????????
I think Romo would SHATTER every record in the book! LOL

So here's my draft
#22 Trade for Roy Williams
#28 W.R. Desean Jackson
2nd Rd: Trade up for R.B. Felix Jones/Chris Johnson/Stewart if he falls.

I don't care who esle we draft, we'd get a top C.B. in Pacman, we'd get a Pro-Bowl W.R. opposite T.O., we'd get a Devin Hester type return man plus a speed slot receiver and yet another weapon for Romo and Garrett to play with, and we'd get a great compliment to Barber.
What else do you really want?
Use our other picks to grab another C.B. for added depth and grab a Guard and a N.T. and we're set.

#22 W.R. Roy Williams
#28 W.R. Desean Jackson
2nd Round: R.B. Felix Jones
(now that's adding a WOW Factor to our offense)
3rd rd: Used to move up in round 2.
4th rd: used for Pacman
5th round: C. Fernand Velasco
6th Round: D.T. Jason Shirley
7th round: C.B. Jake Ikegwounu

The top 3 picks would come in and contribute immediately and of course Pacman on top of it.
We'd also secure all of our SKILL POSITION players on offense for Romo's career and for the rest of Romo's career, all we'll ever have to draft is offensive lineman and DEFENSE! :laugh2:

Why draft DeSean Jackson after trading for Roy Williams?

I completely disagree with that. Counting on Pacman is a very huge gamble. Draft a young stud CB. If Pacman works out, we will be in great shape. If he doesn't, we are still covered. We lost our #3 and #4 CB. So we really need 2 new CB's. Signing Pacman shouldn't alter our draft plans one bit.

Um, that's what mocks are, ASSUMPTIONS!

Well apprently Pacman made a verbal deal already with us, and we are gonna give them a 7th rounder, seems almost all but dotting the I's and crossing the T's once he gets unsuspended, the only thing holding the deal up.

Yeah, but realistic assumptions. Yours is wishful thinking.

Beause it's been reported the Lions want to get something for Roy now because they feel he wnats out of detroit and only has one more year left on his deal and that he'll bolt in F/A so they want to get something for him now and Jerry is interested in him.
CJ wants out of Cincy, we want a WOW player opposite T.O.!

Again, players want all the time, doesn't mean its going to happen.

How much money will it cost the Bengals?
Do you know the cap hit on him?
The reason for leting RW go was mentioned above!
Chad will not be in Cincy this year, that's pretty much well known.

Don't remember the exact figure, but its high. Heres a quote from ESPN.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3309769
The Bengals have said repeatedly that they have no intention of trading him.
The Bengals would take a huge hit to their salary cap if they traded him. Johnson has four years left on his contract, which was extended in April 2006. He will make $3 million in base salary next season, and can make $18.5 million over the rest of the deal.

http://www.detroitnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080325/SPORTS0101/803250428/1126

Roy Williams has heard the speculation that he might be on the trading block, but the Detroit Lions' Pro Bowl receiver said that coach Rod Marinelli has told him he will not be traded.
Williams, who is going into the last year of his contract, would like to be a Lion for life if the Lions are willing to sign him to a long-term contract.
"I'm ready to do whatever," Williams said Tuesday. "If they want to make me a Lion for life, I'm good with that. If not, I'm going to play my type of ball and see what happens after that."

Happy, not happening.

And you say I MAKE TOO MANY ASSUMPTIONS?
now you're saying like it's A FACT THAT WE'LL TRADE OUT OF ROUND 1.
Only problem with that scenario is who's gonna trade next years 1st rounder?
Only reason that happened last year was cause Brady fell, I don't see a TOP FLIGHT player like he was at the position he plays that could fall, that's a HUGE ASSUMPTION on your part that a top player big enough to give up a 1st rounder next year to move up falls to us.
You call it a PIPE DREAM, I'm saying it's VERY PLAUSIBLE!
Pacman already verbally agreed to the trade, and everyone knows Jerry wants a vet W.R. opposite T.O., so that makes it HIGHLY POSSIBLE we trade ofr CJ or RW!

Dallas has traded out of the first round many times. Mine is a legit assumption, you're just wishful thinking.

When people mention DJ's size, they aren't complaining about his height, but his WEIGHT. So comparisons to guys like Welker aren't good ones. Welker probably weighs at least 20 pounds more than DJ at about the same height. That's a HUGE difference.

If I was taking a small speedy DJ it would be Dexter Jackson..who happens to be 15-20 pounds heavier than the other DJ..

I wouldn't be against D. Jackson in your scenerio. But he does scare me a little as far as bust potential. Who would return punts, P.Jones or Jackson?

I wouldn't be against trading up in the second for a solid RB and would like to see this happen.

I wouldn't want to give up a 4th for P. Jones. We need to draft some young corners even if we acquire Jones. What happens if and when Henry gets hurt and/or P. Jones gets suspended again? These are two scenarios that might not be likely but are nontheless very possible. So in your scenario I would rather have RW with the 28th pick and use the 22 on CB. If we had to use the 22cond on RW, then I think I would try and trade down into the second and pick up a few more draft picks for 1 or 2 solid CBs as opposed to drafting Jackson..or settling for Dexter Jackson with one of those later picks.

I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to your scenario although I don't really want Jones (Felix or PacMan). But we will need to have some insurance at all times with P. Jones on the team. We will need to draft a CB earlier than the 5th round which is the earliest your scenario would dictate.

Well now I'm hearing it's only gonna b e a 7th rounder for Pacman.
I agree we still need a couple corners, and if we don't go D. Jackson, I'd LOVE to get the other D. Jackson in Dexcter in round 4, would be the same thing basically, a small speedy guy inthe slot and with a 4th rounder instead, I actually like that better now. :)

Because we need a speedy guy to play in the slot, and I think he'd make the most impact as a rookie in our superbowl run this year.

Yeah, just as you said above, teams say they aren't gonna trade a player ALL THE TIME and end up doing so in the end, so NO, I'm not happy cause it's still a possibility.

Mine is LEGIT, Pacman is all but a done deal and I guess we'll see if they get RW or CJ!
It's not wishfull thinking, it's called what's being reported!
You wanna make a SIDE SIG BET on whether the Bengals trade CJ or not???
Time to put up or shut up, BETS always seperate the men from the women, so I'm confiendt CJ won't be in Cincy this year, you seem to think it's wishfull thinking and cannott possibly happen, so do you wanna bet on it?

You know cause it's SO UNREALISTIC and NEVER GONNA HAPPEN!
But keep in mind, CJ just said he's go play ARENA FOOTBALL if he isn't traded, but keep thinking mine isn't LEGIT and yours is REALISTIC!
So like I said, do you WANNA BET???????????
Either BET or else we can all assume it is a realistic possiblity and not WISHFULL THINKING after all.
