No problems with Golden at the end of the 1st from me

Collins is enticing but did he ever even start at LSU? I'm just concerned people will get enamored with the height and overrate him. Collins has upside, but I'd prefer more experienced guys like Kevin Johnson or D'Joun Smith

Don't know much about Tomlinson...

Too big for my liking and doesn't move enough either....2 OL in a row is also a little overkill in my book as well.

Alexander would be a good pick there

We're going to need a new starting RT in a year or two and whether we keep Free or Parnell his offseason we will need a backup OT to be groomed as future starting RT immediately. It's going I be expensive to keep all our OL together. Leary is a RFA this year and a UFA next year. We can get cheaper and better in the draft.

what about getting our defense up to speed with talent rather then mostly
over achieving

not a bad draft, like Golden end of the first. That's also who Walterfootball's new mock has us taking there. I find Nate Orchard also intriguing but seems Golden would fit our needs better replacing Spencer essentially as Golden is bigger. I think its a foregone conclusion we will be taking a pass rusher with our first pick. I like going CB in the second but its BPA versus a DT there IMO. Believe Walter has us taking DT Bennett with our second pick which would be a coup IMO. They also have DT Malcolm Brown falling to mid-to late second. I fear they will both go much higher as DTs always shoot up the boards come draft day versus where people project them to go. That said, I'd love Bennett there or even Preston Smith as I think he can slide out to DE on running downs and inside to DT on passing downs plus he's 6'6" so he's going to knock some passes down and has some pass rushing utility. I think he's a third round talent but we'll pick so late it won't matter.
I like taking WR/KR Lockett in the third if possible as I see Harris leaving.
I'm ok with Havenstein in the 5th, think that's about the right place for an OL pick and hard to argue with a Wisconsin guy.
Don't know anything about your LB but I feel confident we will be looking hard at LBs starting in the 4th round.

Out of the initial DE's I've looked at I like Golden best so far,

The LB is LSu's leading tackler and an underclassmen. Jerry won't be able to help himself.

As far as Bennett goes, you don't draft backup 3 DT's in 2. He'd be playing behind TC. He is not a 1DT.

At 1DT I think we'll resign Hayden and have him, McClain, Brent and Bishop.

I don't see the love in golden. Guy us slow. Never gets doubled as Ray takes the attention away.
He's not aas good as Ealy and Ealy was taken 2nd round and dint impress this year.
I think we could do better in the 1st round

While I like the thought of a pass rushing DE in round 1, I wouldn't be sure that's what the Cowboys do.

I mean virtually no one thought they would take a center in the 1st round two years ago and a guard last year.

The Cowboys seem to have learned to play the "Let's get a high rated guy (on our board) instead of a 'need' kinda pick".

I would think they'll pick up a FA DE or two along the way so a 1st round DE isn't a must.

Bottom line, I wouldn't get locked in to a DE being the first pick. If the a good value safety, linebacker, CB, DT or even a QB drops, they could very well take them.

I hear what you are saying but I am basing my pick on what I think will be value on the board when we pick at 32. I think it will be OL and DE. I don't think we value 1 DT high enough to take one in first round unless they are special. Pass rushers and cover guys are too important. We won't draft S high when we like the young starters we have.

I don't see good value or need for CB end of one now.

Nothing moves the needle more for this D and the whole team and could add more to the success for our season than pass rush.

Like who?

If you think Golden is slow you are going to hate Lawrence. Golden timed faster at his Junior day. Cuz 4.72 is slow I guess.

What have we learning over the last few years? When in doubt go BPA. Based on most of the rankings I have seen that is likely WR or OL. I think the one guy who could tempt them if he is there is Brett Hundley. unless Jerry picks up JFB at a fire sale and has David Wells do his thing.

Would I be stunned if they went WR or OL in round 1?

Not a bid.

The forum would going berserk but I could see it happening.

If the Cowboys signed someone like Jabaal Sheard prior to the draft that would help alleviate some of the butt-hurt that would occur IF the Cowboys did not select a 1st round DE.

I'd be pretty pissed if we took a WR in one.

Who could we draft that would improve upon our 10 TD catch #2 WR we have right now? We more than any other team have proven we can find WR's in any round.

Taking a WR in one would guarantee we lose TW in FA when he is a UFA.

So we had no need on OL when we took Freddo and Martin in one?

Golden is a guy that I would like to have on the team, but I don't really think 1st round when watching him.

Similar athlete and production (if not better) as Lawrence vs much better competiton.

Ealy had similar timed speed to Lawrence, but Lawrence was a much quicker player on the field, IMO.

I've have not spent a lot of time watching Golden, just giving my opinion as of right now.

It's actually quite obvious that Lawrence is quicker than Ealy.

Not sure what that has to do with Golden though.
