The Cowboys seem to have learned to play the "Let's get a high rated guy (on our board) instead of a 'need' kinda pick".

I would think they'll pick up a FA DE or two along the way so a 1st round DE isn't a must.

Hope they feel that way about ROT, S and CB also.

Like who?

If you think Golden is slow you are going to hate Lawrence. Golden timed faster at his Junior day. Cuz 4.72 is slow I guess.

Oh I wasn't talking tratrack time there cuz. Last time I checked golden isn't running a 40. He's slow off the ball and out of his stance. Lawerence is faster.
Why you looking at 40 time for a DE. You want him to play WR.

Ealy had similar timed speed to Lawrence, but Lawrence was a much quicker player on the field, IMO.

I've have not spent a lot of time watching Golden, just giving my opinion as of right now.
Agreed. On the field, who cares about track speed, golden is slow off the ball. He's strong and can set the edge but usually is blocked by only 1 person since Ray gets most the attention. Look at Ealy last year, Golden is in the same situation but Ray is better than Sam. Ealy was a mid to late 2nd round pick and I didn't like him last year. He was to slow for me and he was and is better than Golden.

Just my opinion but Golden maybe late 2nd round like Ealy was.

Golden is obviously a quicker/better athlete than Ealy is. If Golden is slow off the ball then Ealy is a NT.

I don't recall anyone asking your opinion.

Take your ball and go home.

Noone asked yours either. You get your feelings hurt again because someone didn't agree with you? Sorry but it's going to heppen. Don't post if you don't want someone else's opinion.

Yeah, I guess it's bound to heppen. "Noone" is going to agree with me all the time.

If you want quick off the ball, look at Max Valles. I'd love for him to fall to us in the third.

not a bad draft, like Golden end of the first. That's also who Walterfootball's new mock has us taking there. I find Nate Orchard also intriguing but seems Golden would fit our needs better replacing Spencer essentially as Golden is bigger. I think its a foregone conclusion we will be taking a pass rusher with our first pick. I like going CB in the second but its BPA versus a DT there IMO. Believe Walter has us taking DT Bennett with our second pick which would be a coup IMO. They also have DT Malcolm Brown falling to mid-to late second. I fear they will both go much higher as DTs always shoot up the boards come draft day versus where people project them to go. That said, I'd love Bennett there or even Preston Smith as I think he can slide out to DE on running downs and inside to DT on passing downs plus he's 6'6" so he's going to knock some passes down and has some pass rushing utility. I think he's a third round talent but we'll pick so late it won't matter.
I like taking WR/KR Lockett in the third if possible as I see Harris leaving.
I'm ok with Havenstein in the 5th, think that's about the right place for an OL pick and hard to argue with a Wisconsin guy.
Don't know anything about your LB but I feel confident we will be looking hard at LBs starting in the 4th round.

If Dallas loses this week or next week i think Jerry would sell out and go after a top vet like JPP or Hardy to rush the edge. Hell i still think he will. No rookie will give you what they can and both are still really young

not a fan of golden tbh.I dont see him as an improvement over any of our ends.

me personally id take ealy over golden given a straight choice.
i dont see 1st round potential when in golden, but then again i dont in calhoun or dupree either and most probably atleast 2 of them will go top 32.
Thats why im sat here and not with will mclay on the experts table :)

Golden had 10 sacks this season, while Hau'oli Kikaha had 19 sacks & 25 TFLs this year, & 13 sacks last season. Would take him over Golden easy. Next up would be an OT, then a run-stopping DT. Here goes:
1. Hau'oli Kikaha, DE, Washington: 6-3, 250. D. Lawrence has the body type to get bigger & move over to LDE. The two will reek havoc for a decade.

2. Ereck Flowers, OT, Miami: 6-5, 320. Quality replacement for Free.

3. Antwuan Woods, DT, Notre Dame: 6-1, 325. Finally get a little more meanness & beef in the middle to stuff the run.

4. Cam Thomas, CB, W. Kentucky: 6-1, 190. Begin the process of replacing Carr & Claiborne.

No one thinks the Washington kid can play DE and he has a history of knee injuries. On top of that he's not going in one.
