The owners have been complaining for years about the price of QB’s being out of control. And everyone says
“you gotta pay them”
That might come to a complete halt if Purdy or Hurts wins the Superbowl.

The smart GMs are spending these years where they aren’t paying a QB 30-40-50 million, building great and even perfect teams.

Building the trenches first, then the WR’s, Safeties, and DB’s. Then the RB’s and LB’s. They have stacked teams with cheap QB’s that they can have manage the games.

The QB basically has a four year tryout to become Mahomes, Brady, Rodgers or Burrow. If he’s not as good as one of those guys, they draft another one and keep building.

This is going to save the teams hundreds of millions on QB spending. It’s going to let them spread that money around, and drive that crazy QB market down to where it needs to be. You’re either a top 4 guy, or we are going with someone on a rookie deal.

This theory will take off like wildfire if Purdy or Hurts wins.

I was saying this at least 5 years ago.

It was apparent that there was a lot more QB talent down the draft, but only 32 starting spots available to play the best QBs left from drafts today and in the past. Probably a lot of those QBs can play, they just don't get the chance. Dak could have easily been a career journeyman but for the injuries to Moore and Romo in rapid succession.

The last piece of that puzzle - run your young, el cheapo QB. Running is an extra dimension a QB can bring to an offense. Yeah, he probably won't last as long, but that's not the franchise's problem. They don't sweat it with RBs. They shouldn't sweat it with cheap QBs on their rookie contracts.

Stop getting Oneitis with QBs. Get em cheap. Keep em coming.

I dont know where you got this narrative from. I read this crap in our forum. But who "everybody" else is saying this ?

The last 15 or 16 SBs were won mostly by QBs on cheap deals. I think only 1 or 2 not.
Seems like I've heard "pay da man" about a zillion times on this board, and many of those zillion in reference to Dak.

From 2010 only cheap QB to win SB were Foles,Flacco and maybe Mahomes ( I am lazy to check if was on rookie contract). Others was top QB( Peyton, Brady, Rodgers, Wilson) and Eli

Both Purdy and Hurts are playing on teams that are loaded. Hurts would be awful with the Texans and so would Purdy. Watson was 10 times the player Hurts is and he couldn’t win there….

That’s kind of the point , sir. You save 40M on a qb and you can load up the rest of the roster. You don’t save 40m and put it towards the yacht payments.

To do that you have to makes trades and build draft picks from picks you sucked at. AJ Brown was one of what three 1st picks from last year? Smh…..

This team is too stupid to do stuff like this. All the money in the world and ran like a mom and pop HVAC company. Spaulding as the secretary……

Those two are already winners regardless if they get to or win a SB. Prescot on the other hand is showing NFL owners that you can not sign players to huge contracts without a get of jail card!, All contracts have to have out clauses to help clubs get out of contracts with players who don't deserve the big money!

This has always been a false narrative. The Niners have spent money on Garrappollo. They just have a team that is so good the QB doenst matter.

And using Brady, Mahomes, Burrows as examples doesnt work either. Those guys are near impossible to come by.

UMM they the 49ers moved up \to get Trey with 3 1st rounders and still had to pay JG because lance might be a bust and Purdy was flat dumb luck as much as tb12 was for NE, same with Philly wentz , you forget they paid him?? theory then why did the browns and broncos do what they did? they tried that for a decade and it not working, Denver's done it twice in between manning and after nothing not one young prospect hit and they went the other directions. acting as if every qb drafted turns into one of these guys, these is no Blueprint and never will be ..each situation is different.
.
Jets going thought the same thing and will get tired of waiting and go PAY a vet FA 40-50mil. Indy? Washington. Lions ?? how about heck NY about to sign Jones, seriously they think hes the answer. lol heck also about to resign SB thought that shouldn't be done either..

odd these teams wished they had b2b 12 win playoff seasons and playoff win to complain about and qb like Dak to whine about.

Yes. It does require some creativity. Which this team absolutely has none of. You are right about that.

I wanted Sam Howell
hes done nothing Daks rookie was better, FACT we forget ROTY and 13 win, 11 straight wins and played great in the playoffs.. sure a one game nfl starter is better like Rush is or was..not a chance. Dak did what Purdys doing and did it first but didn't have the defense or as good a coach, think about that.

2016 would have been special with SF d and coaching staff.

We can hope so because QB contracts are ridiculous as a relation to the total salary cap!
