New Offense Identity?

Does a QB get slide protection running a triple option?
Any time a player starts to give themselves up, they are protected. Cam took off on a run yesterday and the defender came and gave him a shot as he was sliding and got ejected from the game.

Agreed. Wentz and Griffin come to mind. Cam could do it but he's 265 pounds but he too takes a beating.
Dak is a smart runner and doesn't take too many big shots. Wentz was reckless and took chances and it caught up with him. Same with with RGIII. Dak may not be lineman big, but he's big and doesn't have those spindly RGIII legs.

We need to emulate what Seattle used to be like with Russell. Punish them with the read option all day long. When Dak runs though he needs to slide. Sliding is very demoralizing to the defense. They work so hard and at the end they do not even get to touch Dak who picks up an easy 8 yards or so. Russell was so good at that.

Steven Jones said on the Fan they had to put tape of Dak doing that so teams have something to consider. I think the read option stays.

Hopefully, it’s still a work in progress...because 20pts isn’t gonna win a lotta games in this league.

It's going to win games against subpar teams. Probably lose against the good teams. That's what 8-8 teams do. We'll probably start off 3-1 this year and then the losing begins. But everyone is putting the blame on Dak. Yeah he's not Drew Brees but it has a lot to do with out offensive line play at the moment. It's nothing like it was in 2016. We may have to go 1st round at OL again. A good OL cannot be taken for granted.

Leaguewide, a team scoring 20 points would've gone 7-6-2 so far this week.

lol, 20 points is hardly an offensive juggernaut.....give it a few more games so we can see if this week wasn't just the high point of this years "Garrettcoaster" ride.

My point is that the points don't matter. Besides 2016 the Cowboys usually lose to the better teams. If the Cowboys continue this trend, and going by the schedule they'll be 7-7 going into week 16 with Tampa and the NYG remaining. How much they score is irrelevant. They'll find a way to beat average to poor teams and lose to the good one's. Week 5 and 6 will be the test this year to see if the trend continues. Because I fully expect them to be 3-1 going in.

Jerry gave us all a preview on 105.3 The Fan last week when he said they were going to use Dak's abilities more "aka his legs."

Was this RPO just implemented to exploit NY or is this who Dallas has become?

Do you mean RPO or zone read?

Maybe this read option stays until Travis returns.....
