I wish Jerry would license with Warner Bros. for "Yosemite Sam" .. In my mind the early days of the Texas Rangers they in fact did for a year or so have the Yosemite Sam mascot (a marketing deal with Six Flags back then). A year or two before it was "Rootin Tootin Ranger" and he was not a very good mascot but maybe the last year it looked like Yosemite Sam. .. In my memory, not sure it was true .. Pix I see on the Web I see the idiotic looking "Rooting Tooting Ranger," not the "Yosemite Sam" looking one ...
Yosemite had attitude, and had guns by his side. Neither are apparently a good thing nowadays.
Nothing that could scare pre-school children can be a Cowboys mascot nowadays.
Anyone remember Crazy Ray?
Games against the Commanders Crazy Ray's buddy would put on a big Native-American (listen to me ha ha) headdress. Yeah he dressed like a "Commander." ... He would walk up the nearest exit to Crazy Ray and want to tangle with him, and a chase would ensue, Crazy chasing the Commander around aisles, then up an exit. Get out of their way if you had beers in your hand wanting to get back to your seat, it was a serious chase!
Watching Crazy Ray vs. Commander was as much fun as the game.
Nowadays: a) Someone could get hurt, someone chasing someone in the aisles! How dangerous! ... b) An "Indian" headdress, how insulting!
I just want Rowdy to be kind of mean, to reflect a team attitude.
Instead, he looks like he is just a muscled up dude, just a little better than the old Howdy Doody Rowdy. ... Frinstance, is the Jacksonville Jaguar logo a real jaguar, or is it a kind and friendly logo, a vegan jaguar?
