I bought and is paid off,but it sucks in the winter and needing new tires and a battery before long and approaching 100,000,so figure trading before that magical mark would be the best thing to do.

It depends on what you want. Would new and different tires, help in the winter?. A battery is nothing. It could need a timing belt or chain. Cars these days should do 150k or more if you keep up the schedule. Personally, I think it's nice to not have a payment as long as possible.

If you are dead set on new and want something that could be a little bigger, try the Mazda CX-9. It is a turbo 4 cylinder that gets decent gas mileage, while having decent power.

Consider a Pinto Wagon I bought a 1973 pinto wagon in 1982 with 150,000 miles on it for 100 $ drove it until 1998 it died with 650,212 miles on it best 100 dollars I ever spent plus buying a wagon gives ya about the same space as a SUV. This is a true story I aint hoo hawing it is waiting to be revived

My 79 VW Dasher wagon was the bomb back in the day. My grandfather and I made some homemade boomboxes to go in the trunk . hahaha

Under 30 K... Ford Explorer (I like the Limited, the sport is awesome, gets up and goes, but pricier), Nissan Pathfinder (I have an SL 4WD, wife mainly drives it during the week, Ill drive it on the weekend and out of town), Toyota Highlanders are very nice and have the longevity, but again pricier...if you usually bail on vehicles before 100K, go with one of the first 2. These are the 3 I considered...really like the front ends of the Explorer on the '16s and forward.

I ran into the back of a Pinto in my friend's Dodge Magnum back in '81, not only did it not blow up, all it did was knock the damn license plate off that thing and destroyed the front of the Magnum.

I use to toss my beer cans in the back of mine and the back door would not latch Once I was cruising down I 20 and hit a dip and it blew open beer cans went everywhere right as I was passing a radar cop freaked me out. He did not even bother to chase me down. Was prolly laughing to hard to drive I'm talking hundreds of cans one or 4 of them were fresh OK maybe 7 or 8

Don't get stuck buying something more expensive just because you think it will make you "happier".

This "focused illusion" will soon dissipate into the realization that trips in the vehicle aren't any more exciting driving a BMW than they are a Ford Focus.

My niece loves her Outback, but apparently they're very popular with her kind. (Wish there was a shoulder shrug emoji.)
Well, her kind aren't the only ones, lol. If they made a full size suv I'd buy one for my wife. But I want her in as big of a car as possible. Too many idiots out there.

I really like the look of the midnight edition Rogue. Need to start checking all the vehicles out.

Jeep Grand Cherokee makes one as well called High Altitude edition. It looks extremely sharp and they start at 30k. I imagine you could get one loaded, add in some rebates(Dodge is big on those right now), add in extra warranty and you could possible get one for under 40K, pretty reasonable.

From what I hear, Jeeps have a lot of mechanical problems. Also, I don't think the gas mileage is in the ball park of what the OP is looking for.

They just came out with a new full-size SUV this year with the Ascent. I’m not really a fan of 3-row seating but you may like it.
