Its only the first preseason game but the same stuff that lead to our defeat last season is still there.

1. Speacil teams are not so speacil. Sd is getting tons and tons of yards every time they return a kick like the Giants did last season. Our returners are getting nothing. On top of that were turning it over. We got to improve this now!!!!!

2. I dont care if you have 8 Deions on the field if you keep playing them 10 yards off, like in the begining of the game, a veteran Superbowl caliber team will take it all the way down the field. You notice when they jammed on 3rd down and Jenkins knocked the ball down that SD couldnt do nothing in that scheme. That 10 yard cushion killed us last year and we go right back to it. Thats the main reason why Brad Johnson was struggling early. Sd was right on the line jamming and we couldnt do nothing. Sound familar(NYG gameplan last season).

I know its only the first preseason game so nobody get uptight over this post but these were the same areas that got us beat last season and there showing their ugly head again. We have depth at RB and DB, we should have PAcMan return punts and Jones return kickoffs. Im assuming thats what its going to be in the regular season. If Crayton returning punts I think ill scream.

Jenkins, Jones, Choice, Scandrick, Zach Thomas and Bennett played well tonight to name a few.

Carpetner, Pac, the backup DT's, and backup Oline all played poorly imo.

1: We didnt have a single return by anyone who will be doing it come the regular season.

2: Most of the guys covering kicks in preseason are guys fighting for spots on the practice squad.

3: You really think we'll be running a defense this vanilla in the regular season?

Got to agree with you for the most part. As for ST's, we know that Adam Jones and Felix Jones will be the return men. We just need to find out about the other guys.

As for the CB's playing off, don't be too worried with that. The Zone D won't be the bulk of what we run.

Let's just see how things go before we panic, which you are clearly not doing.

Carp, Burnett, Johnson all need to go, as I have said before.

Question: what exactly did Bennett do to earn a "he played well" tag from you? He dropped the only pass thrown his way.

The special teams and the back up offensive line are the things that really concerned me coming out of tonight. The rest of it I think you're jumping the gun. They're not going to come out in the first preseason game and show the world everything they've got in their playbooks for either the offense or the defense.

Heavy, all Im saying is that was our downfall last year. Its early, no need to stress over these areas but they should be addressed now asap. I agree with your other post on otherwise we dominated and your right on vanilla defense.

Howso? We lost 4 games last year, and not one was because of special teams

We did, however, win a few games on ST play

Even though Bennett dropped that ball its clear to see he has talent. Thats why I gave him an ok for tonight. Do you disagree with that after tonights game you dont think hes talented?

Oh really? YOu don't think that 25 yard punt return that gave the Giants outstanding field position for their go ahead score had anything to do with our loss?

I beg to differ.

I disagree. Our playoff game was partially lost due to STs.

After Crayton's missed third down...possible TD drop...We punted. McQuarters returned the punt deep into our territory, setting up a score by the Giants.

The Giants killed us on returns in the playoff game. RW Mcquarters kept getting big returns at key times. We had nothing in the return game. Thats what I meant by eventually its going to come back and haunt you. Jamie Dukes said the same thing at halftime. Just food for thought.

Our inability to stop the Giants pass rush was our undoing. We had ample opportunity to win the game, both before and after that return. We had the ball twice on their side of the field in the 4th and couldnt block.

Yes that clearly killed us as well. I'm simply pointing out the fact that it's obviously not the only issue we had and to say that the ST teams didn't play any part in the loss would be completely incorrect.

That is fine it is preseason but these coverage issues are the exact same thing we saw last year. You cant just throw people in there when the season starts and expect everything to be fine.

I for one am a little worried about camp marshmellow this team doesnt look ready to play and they are not doing the little things it takes to win.

Bennett made one nice catch on a low pass, other then that he looked like a deer in the headlights. BJ is just collecting a check, it bothers me that he has a roster spot, the coaches have to recognize he is done it is obvious to everyone else on the planet.

Marten and McQuisten looked pretty bad as well Adams and Colombo need to stay healthy or Romo is going to be running for his life.

Was that the diving catch he made near the sideline? That was a nice catch.
