now your reaching, een more than the OP with the UCLA kid.

So it your opinion that Owamagbe Odighizuwa goes before DeForest Buckner? Got it.

I don't think we are going to be able to go DE in the 1st. I dont think the value will be there. This is a bad draft for 43 DEs. May have to go OLine again which I wouldn't mind. That or CB or trade back.

You might actually be right about the DE availability. Nothing wrong with another quality OL or a CB if that is what available when we pick.

Be careful with the I'm smarter than everyone mentality I've been seeing from you in the forum. It's the kind of posting that drove people away until that element was lessened. I love the draft talk and I have tons of opinions and criticisms of mocks, BUT it's simply everyone's opinion or personal preferences. You need to chill on acting like your friends who are scouts or general managers or whatever, make your posts on draft prospects any better than the posters who want to share their draft takes here.

where did I say these are facts, this is what I see and yes my opinion. never called you stupid or anything. just agreed with another poster but I get called out. All I said was I think drafting a guy who can't even get 5 sacks in the 1st round is a reach. You don't have to agree but don't get sad because I disagree with you. I just said what I think. I think when we pick the BPA will not be DE. Sorry I hurt your feelings, I will try and use kinder words next time.

Good job Chris in arizona. Thats was good effort and I like what you did with your selection. I think he is a reach and not a 1st round player. I hope Dallas doesnt reach on a need position and sticks to what has worked the last few years. But good try.

Is that better way to say I disagree and i think he's a reach?

I am friends with a Scout. Rex Hogan national scout for the Bears. My wife's uncle is Chad Clifton. Former Green bay Packer LT.

I would be happy with that. I'm more of a Preston Smith fan. I like that he can play the 5 SDE and 3 Tech DT. We could rotate him at either position. Reminds me alot of Crawford.

I'm a Orchard guy, i would love to have him opposite Lawrence. But I think he is going to tear up the senior bowl and combine and go top 20.

Drafting a RT late 1 and letting Free walk makes sense to me. Erick Flowers, Stanley, Collins

then in a few years a lop-sided salary cap spent on Oline

Your projections are telling you we would have trouble keeping our OL plus another first rounder together or it would inhibit us from building the rest of the team?

Loading a lot of resources at one position once those contracts expire become big chuck
of salary cap percentage and other positions most be underpaid. I love what our offensive
line is giving us [so does everybody else].in a few years those 1st round offensive lineman
contracts become due then we're paying 10 million here seven million there five million
and seven million.[what ever the numbers are. My question is that sustainable under
the cap? So yes that's my point your correct.

Assuming we will be paying them like the tops at their positions ala franchise tag prices C/G and OT are nowhere near what top QB's, RB's, WR's, CB's, DT's and pass rushers cost.

By the time we have to pay these guys other big contracts will be coming off the books. And we are better off paying our own young ones vs signing somebody else's old ones like Marco and Leonard.

And even if we do score on a mid/low/UDFA OL eventually you are going to have to pay him or lose em.

Doesn't have to be. We already have smith locked up. Fred and Martin have a few years before we have to do anything and a rookie will be 4 years away.

We may have to let some one walk at some point and draft again.

By the time we have to sign Fred martin and a 1st round rookie romo, witten, and Murray will be gone.

I personally have no problem with having three quality O Lineman locked up to rookie contracts for the next three to four years. Good problem to have IMO.

I know it's easy to think or feel that spending another 1st on OL is too much and ignores other positions but look at it this way. Every offseason we have a certain amount of holes to fill. Right tackle, with Doug Free and Jermey Parnell being free agents, is a likely hole. If Cedric Ogbuehi, Ronnie Stanley, T.J. Cummings, and Ereck Flowers are available versus defensive linemen with 3rd round grades, you take the tackle (assuming a quality trade down option isn't available).

The good thing is that the draft is two months after free agency, so a lot of the holes we perceive now will be filled (hopefully) before the draft. My hope is that no matter what happens in the playoffs, the front office is aggressive, similar to Denver last off-season. The last time we had a decent team we took it for granted that we would improve on our own. The 2009 draft was awful on its own merit, but equally bad was the front office's approach to free agency the next off-season. Not a single free agent was brought in for a visit. After being embarrassed 34-3 in the playoffs, the front office (Jerry?) felt the holes would be filled from within and that resulted in a 6-10 season.

Another plus of having a young, established O Line is that when the next QB comes in, he gets to develop behind Pro Bowlers like Smith, Fred, and Martin.

I really like the positional selections but I'd nee dot study a lot more college footage to say they are all good picks,

For guys I know a bit better and seem to rate in the same area:

1. Shili Calhoun. DE, MSU. --actually big enough to play 4-3 DE. Has really good ability.
2. SenQuez Golson, CB, Ole Miss, --smallish OScan type. Chip on his shoulder and plays really hard and really fast. Benefit of practicing versus Treadwell at Ole Miss.
3. Jay Ajani, RB, BSU. Local (Frisco) kid with good size and speed. Tremendous character and ability.
4. Tyrus Thompson, OT, OU. Massive RT-only guy who can really maul. Should be better on pro level than collegiately because of defender size. Will need a couple years but can help as a role player on goalline now.
5. Brandon Ivory, NG/1T, Bama. Hard to think of a Bama guy getting overlooked but Ivory is a point of attack, clog the middle guy surrounded by 5 stars. Can help in a rotation behind Brent and eventually start for you IMHO.

I don't think we are going to be able to go DE in the 1st. I dont think the value will be there. This is a bad draft for 43 DEs. May have to go OLine again which I wouldn't mind. That or CB or trade back.

I like the trade back idea, especially when we will be picking so low. Pick up an extra pick and maybe gamble on a kid like Marcus Peters.

Yeah I would do that. This CB class is weak so if you can get a 1st round talent I the 2nd then by all means do it.
Just depends on whose is there when we pick.

If you find a guy that can rush the passer I'd take him even if he's awful against the run. Bring him in on passing downs move Lawrence to the left in and let the rushmen go.

Yes, the Cowboys need to find a DE in free agency; otherwise, they might end up forcing a pick on one in the draft.

This, makes sense to me too.
