I just don't get these guys... too much talent to be that bad. I understand the lack of a pass rush is a problem but come on. I would love to know the QB rating of Warner and Hassleback. We are making these guys look way too good.

They did a good when in man coverage however they did not do a good job in zone. Which is where Hassleback was able to attack.

The thing I don't get is how Wrs pull away from Newman on crossing routes and he is supposed to have world class speed.
I agree completely!!! Everytime they should a crossing route..Newman was fluttering behind. I am a little concerned about this.

I Tivo'd the game and watched the first half again last night before bed. On the first crossing route that Newman was beat on, that was just a good route by the receiver. He sold a route that would go up the field and Newman bit on it. It's amazing that one half step to the left when the receiver goes right opens the door for a guy with TNew's talent to get beat.

As I recall Ware was beat badly on the first step of a crossing route too.

The difference is that he was able to close the gap on one of the faster TEs in the league.

Our corners will be fine. We are in a brand new scheme with lots of new players; it takes time. Also, we face these guys in the regular season, so we can't show too much on either side of the ball. Throw Fergy and Spears in the rotation along the DL and things will be fine.

Our secondary is not really playing a new scheme. Much of what they do remains the same in either the 3-4 or 4-3.

Besides much of the time they were running man coverage. Any CB should know man coverage by now.

Dallas played quite a bit of zone as well. I felt there man coverage was pretty decent zone on the other hand was played poorly

Look how far Jerramy Stevens went across the middle. It was damn near across the whole formation again. The seattle receiver ran what was basically a quick slant. He sold the route upfield but went on a slant. The difference is a crossing route and a slant. Newman wasn't chasing a Tight End, he was chasing a receiver.

I'd bet Stevens and Ware in a foot race, Ware wins 9 out of 10 times.

I'm not worried too much because we are playing match up with schemes. But you are right IMO about Newman's ability to cover on crossing routes. He seems to lose a step or two way too often on those routes.

Because he always like to go for the first move.

He does bite hard at times. Still does on the deeper routes but he seems to do it more on those crossing routes. Could just be my faulty perception.

Seattle has scored 7 points.... simmer down!

But the secondary was cut up.
If not for Ware they would have driven the ball a few times on us last night.

Just thought they were passing to Newmans side more or the player he was covering - or should have been covering.

All i know is i saw our CB playing en yards back, and on T-new getting beat on crossing routes, when your going maybe half speed watching the WR, while he's running about 3/4 and and then runs full speed out of a slant, it makes it real hard to catch up.

We played zone as well. Corners playing 10 yards off doesn't help them either. As Parcells said, our LB'ers weren't dropping back enough in coverage either, that and the safeties seemed to be playing pretty far back compared to usual when not blitzing or playing the run.

I thought Newman and Henry both played pretty well. The Seahawks were able to beat some zone coverage in the middle of the field and man coverage against the linebackers and safeties. How is that the fault of Newman and Henry?
Both corners were just okay, although that crossing route did bother me a little. Newman should be closer to him than that. But I really agree with what you said about the zone coverage in the middle of the field. For some reason on message boards, I see the corner (Newman in particular) get blamed for those completions when they aren't the corner's responsibilty.

I'm not worried about our corners either. The way the league is, all teams are going to complete passes... All of them. What we need to do differently this year is get some INTs and take them back for scores.
