Albert Breer is reporting that Newman is no sure bet to return. Www.rotoworld.com is where I saw it. Nnamdi? Champ? Peterson? Prince? Harris? Lots of options available

He's a corner on the wrong side of 30, so no one should be shocked.

We're going to make a play for Asomugha guys. It's gonna happen.

Newman won't sniff his 8 mill.

I heard broaddus say a few weeks ago he thinks newman is this years adams.

Seems crazy to me though. I think that takes a shaky position and makes it flat out terrible.

Why is it crazy? Newman is flatout terrible at times.

If he is gone, and I am not sure he is, bet on Patrick Peterson even if Jerry has to trade up to get him.

Just because I think for the past two seasons he has had occasional mental mistakes that cost us, but at the same time I think he is still very good.

Its just that people only remember the bad plays. I still think he makes more good plays than bad ones. Even if over the past two seasons at times the bad ones have really bad killers.

and I think it is crazy because I actually would prefer they keep newman and add 1 or 2 experienced corners and have competition and turn that spot into a positive.

I am scared of releasing newman at this point and having jenkins and a rookie.

point well taken, but I just don't seem him worth the $ he's getting at this point.

Yeah thats the catch, that is why he is this years flo.

You just cant pay him that much when he has been giving up those plays, even if he balances it out.

I kinda wish we could keep him and bring in a guy like carlos rodgers to give us 4 experienced corners.

No objection to that.

Not really surprising. Diminishing skills, increasing injury propensity, and poor value make him the kind of veteran that hits the bricks.

FWIW, my understanding is the Cowboys will save $4 million off the cap if they cut Newman this offseason.

I wish we would keep him, too. When healthy, he's still a very good CB. But that's the key point...when healthy. Given his age, injury history, and his cost, it's not hard to see why they would let him go.

Hopefully they have a plan to replace him with more than just a rookie draft pick.

Well lets see: rumors so far have Ball, Sense, Jenkins, Newman, Spencer, James, Brooking, Spears all leaving on defense; and Colombo, Davis, Kosier, Gurode, Roy, Choice, MB, Bennett on O. With Buehler gone as Kicker.

Outside of Tony, Felix, Witten Miles and DEX with Ware and the Rat who is NOT rumored to be going?

With the likliehood of no deal before the draft; and therefore no FA before the draft, nothing will happen until after the draft at the earliest.

Look what happened the last time we cut a guy (Hamlin)without a pretty sure answer on the team.

Despite his shortcomings, he'd get picked up pretty quickly.

I think it would be terribly risky to not only cut a starter and rely on a rookie to replace him, but then on top of that to give up picks to get said rookie. I want Peterson too by I don't like the situation this would put us in.

You can also bet on whatever team we call to trade up attempting to fleece us, under those circumstances.

I hope that Steven can keep Jerruh from going nuts trying to get Peterson.

I'd prefer to restructure if we can. The guy is still a good player, and corner back depth is something we greatly lack.
