That's just not how our D works. The problem with having Newman shadow someone is that it means everyone else moves -- for example in the nickel, if Moss splits out to Henry's side and Newman takes him then Henry needs to move -- either to the slot or to the other side -- if he goes to the other side then Glenn goes to the slot. You end up puttnig someone in a role that they have not filled all year. You might stop Moss that way but you really open stuff up for other guys.

Yes, but what's the lesser of two evils?? Letting Moss burn Glenn (as we've seen happen) and/or a hampered Henry, or possibly opening stuff up for other guys? Who are these "other guys?" Cooley? Thrash? Are any of the Skins other WRs that threatening. All I'm saying is if we lose again because of matchups, when we know TNew can hang with Moss, then that is inexcusable.

Let's see -- keep everyone in the positions that they've played all year -- where they are comfortable playing -- OR move people around to match up with Moss -- thus playing the CBs out of position?

BP is about making the other team less comfortable -- not about making his own team less comfortable. We have a D that has played well. Moss didn't burn Glenn so much as Glenn's deep help failed and the D-line didn't get pressure. You combine those two things and it doesn't matter who is covering the guy.

Well im sorry cant name off the top of my head the receivers that burned your beloved Newman. Im sure you all can name a few though. Newman hasen't played a perfect season, neither has any corner in the league. Corners get burned from time to time. Go ask Aaron Glenn. He know all about it.

You know not what you speak. Newman is playing at a pro bowl level this year

From Matt Mosley's latest article at ***BANNED-URL***

Newman vs. Moss: Several players indicated that the Cowboys will probably shadow Commanders wide receiver Santana Moss with cornerback Terence Newman in Sunday's game.

Moss, regarded as one of the fastest receivers in the league, burned veteran cornerback Aaron Glenn for two touchdown catches in the Commanders' 14-13 victory in Week 2 of the season.

Moss had at least 100 yards receiving in four of his team's first six games, but hasn't reached that level since. Newman wouldn't say whether he was going to be assigned to Moss, but did say that other teams have allowed him to make short catches in order to guard against the deep ball.

At 5-10, 190 pounds, Moss doesn't always have an easy time getting off the line of scrimmage.

I'm worried about Moss on those screens and quick hitches. Dat was the master at sniffing those sorts of plays out and stuffing them behind the LOS and he did that in the 1st Skins game. With Dat out, and our LBs struggling in space, I think we're very vulnerable to that play. The CBs and S ususally cant make that tackle because they're facing pulling TEs and Ts. The LB must quickly diagnose and make that play, or else.....
demarcus ware and scott fujita have been playin pretty well against the run

I agree that you want to make the other team less comfortable, but wouldn't Bill make the other team less comfortable if TNew was shadowing Moss instead of letting the Skins control who is matched up on Moss?? I know I don't get paid to be an offensive coordinator, but it's not rocket science... If TNew doesn't shadow Moss, you'd want Moss in the best situation possible. And all you have to do is move Moss to the other side?? That's too easy, and doesn't get anyone out of their comfort zone.

Who cares what side the CBs have played most of the year? I'd want my best CB on their best WR. It's analogous to defensive stoppers in the NBA... Why do the Spurs play Bruce Bowen on the opposing team's most dangerous scorer? It doesn't matter that Bowen's a small forward. He'll play guards all day, and yes there may be mismatches on the court as a result, but if you can take away their best option, then you take that team out of their comfort zone, and make the other guys beat you. If the Cowboys could take Moss out of the game, I don't see anyone else in their passing game who could beat us.

are you nuts? T-New has blazin speed, and can keep up w/ Randy Moss if he wanted to.

He didn't just keep up with Moss in the Oakland game, he caught him from behind. TNew has ridiculous speed.

Newman on Moss is exactly what I would do for the majority of the game with some bump and run from henry to beat him up a lil early in the game with a lb on the second level and a safety on the third level-

Moss is the one guy we must stop to beat the skins- Portis is a very good back but their running game lacks the big play like kc has or denver, seattle etc

I wouldn't be totally surprised if this were disinformation... It just doesn't seem like Parcells...

Unless Henry and Glenn are still pretty banged up?

I think you will need to adjust your scheme to slow him down. You dont think teams have adjusted their scheme to stop Moss the last half of the season?? He proved he is a playmaker the first half but when your double covered and your the only NFL receiver on your team, your number are gonna drop. Ask Chad Johnson last week. You all hold Portis under 20 carries, you win the game in easy fashion. If not, we got a chance.

Terry Glenn did just fine against the Chiefs, being doubled
