Just goes to show you that running at the mouth will get you more publicity then actually playing well.

I've heard Newmans name on the news over the last 2 days then I have over his entire career.

I really think that Newman coming out and saying this stuff will get him into the Pro Bowl. If Newman has a good game after talking smack.....hes in.

2 things can happen....if newman comes out and is toast...he will be a joke and everyone from espn to nfl network will say he needs to shut up, hes not good..ect...

if he balls out.....he will be up there with baily for sure...because baily does a lil self promoting 2...and he will be a better version of hall...even though we all know newman doesn't talk much...but people will assume he does now

It was a slow news day... Blah blah about sports stars being heroes to the young children and this sort of behavior is irresponsible and how he's evil, he's like Michael Vick and these sports egos are out of control, blah blah blah...

OH and I'm sure FoxNoise will spin it so that somehow Terrance Newman is a general in the war against Christmas as well.

I'm just concerned theat Newman and James have given the Lions something to hang their hat on and come out swinging against us cause they've got nothing to lose. It was foolish and we better win and suffer no injuries or Newman/James are mud.

It's funny all the talk about how Newman shouldn't have said it, and that he is a terrible person for it. The only thing that matters is the actions on the field, regardless of whether a player SAYS (intent) they are going to do something, they should be punished the same for there actions!

But what I think is happening here is just getting in Kitna's head. Kitna's a bit nervous now and I wouldn't be surprised if Newman doesn't even touch him all game. He'll be looking for a pick or two, but I think pressure will be coming from other places and Newman is just a decoy.

The talk doesn't bother me so much, it's all head games until they suit up and play.

All I know is that we better just beat the Lions. No time for distraction.

We've got a chance to clinch the NFC East plus at least 1 home playoff game!

As well as a bye week. I don't want Dallas playing Wildcard weekend. I would rather see this team get a break and start in the divisional rd of the playoffs

Do you guys realize that in order for the Cowboys to play in a wildcard game, they would have to lose 3 out 4 or 4 out of 4? Does anyone really think we go 1-3 or 0-4?

Please stop with this ridiculous wildcard game talk. At worst, we'll get #2 HFA, Noway we are in a wildcard game, no friggin way.

the seahawks are a lock for 12-4, maybe even the bucs too. so we would need to win atleast 2 i think.

I think we probably need to win 3 out of the next 4 to likely ensure home field advantage throughout the playoffs. That's not an easy task.

That said, I think we should be able to handle Carolina on the road. They are not good this year. Philly is never easy. I hope they lose this weekend so they have nothing to play for! And the Commanders are typically tough as well.

A win versus Detroit would be a very nice way to start December!!!!

Newman just significantly increased his chances at making future Pro Bowls.

I guess this is a better route than getting your head stomped in on national television.

All it takes is some talking. Who cares if you back it up.

But we all know Newman will back it up.

At this rate, the media will soon start using Newman's middle name, ala John Wilkes Booth and Lee Harvey Oswald.

Here's the stuff the NFL and the media could care a less about:

  • Newman was involved with the "Breakfast Buddy" program in his hometown of Salina, which is similar to the nationwide Big Brothers/Big Sisters program.
  • As a member of the Cowboys 2003 Rookie Club - a program designed to introduce rookie team members to community service in the Dallas area - Newman participated in charity visits to various non-profit organizations serving children and adults. Visits included work with the ChildCareGroup, The Salvation Army, Children's Medical Center Dallas and Kid's Cafe at The Voice of Hope Ministries.
  • During the 2004 and 2005 off seasons, he served as a celebrity escort at the Children's Cancer Fund Fashion Show. The event, annually co-chaired by former Cowboys quarterbacks Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman, raises over $400,000 to help fund pediatric oncology research.
  • Newman participated in the 2004 Rookie Club Alumni visit to ChildCareGroup where the alumni rookie club members joined the '04 rookies to carve pumpkins with 140 preschool children from low-income families. He kept very active in the community during the 2005 offseason participating in two fashion shows including the St. Valentine's Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Style Show in addition to his second catwalk for the Children's Cancer Fund Fashion Show and Luncheon hosted by Aikman and Staubach.
  • For two consecutive years, Newman and teammate Lousaka Polite distributed bicycle helmets to underprivileged children in honor of Brain Awareness Week hosted by UT Dallas.
  • He also attended Stars of TexasRacing Against the Odds fundraiser hosted by local radio personality and newspaper columnist Randy Galloway at Lone Star Park for the American Diabetes Association in 2004 and 2005 an event that helped raise over $300,000.
  • Newman has also been a fan favorite at the Cowboys annual NFL Draft Day party in 2004 and 2005 as he attends to sign autographs for the team's loyal fans. Newman's signature program included his participation and support of the NFL Flag Football program in Dallas for youth.
  • He attends the kick off events, spends time coaching the children and signs autographs for the participants. He looks to continue his involvement with Cowboys NFL Flag to recruit even more youth to participate in the program.
  • During the 2005 holiday season, Newman found time to shop and participate in the teams annual support of The Salvation Army Angel Tree program which provides Christmas gifts to children in need.

Oh, and one more:

With the holiday season approaching, Newman hopes to spend time this Sunday dismembering Detroit's Jon Kitna. The quarterback's teeth will be auctioned off for charity.
