Newman Vs Moss?

im sorry excuse my ignorance....but 3 or 4 years ago...when BP was still head coach..we faced the vikings i was at work at the time during that season opener....

anyways i remember hearing from a few friends that moss kept gettin like little 3 yard hitches for TD's...and 1 friend told me Moss started pointing his finger n laughing therefore newman jumped on top of him n started punching n slapping him

another friend told me..that Newman just got on top of him an was shoking Moss....

i know you guys know better than them...what really happened? and does anyone have a clip of it?

I actually remember them getting pretty physical and I think at one point both players were on the ground. I don't remember Newman punching him but I do know Moss was talking a lot that game and it seemed to kind of rattle Newman. After their little altercation Moss caught 2 TDs on Newman I believe, it's the only time I've seen Newman get routinely beat.

He worked Newman over pretty good that game, it was basically pitch and catch between Culpeper and Moss. I believe that's the worst game I've seen Newman play.

Moss' statline...

4 catches for 27 yards and 2 TD. So maybe he wasn't "routinely" getting beat like I said, but I am pretty sure the 2 TDs came after their little tussle.

Newman was not all that great that year either because he played hurt the entire season.

Id say he bounced back more than nicely though.

hmm are you guys sure they didnt get into any type of fight? i remember someone had a sig on here a while back with Newman on moss...holding his hand out on his neck or chest..cant remember

Routinely beat? Moss didn't torch New at all, he had, what, two TDs for a total of less than 10 yards if I'm not mstaken...and one of those he got away w/ a pretty good push-off!

Well every1 knows he doesn't run just GO routes however he does give up on plays and shows little interest going across the middle.

He doesn't push off on the 2nd TD and it doesn't give a great view of the first one, but by looking at where Newman is when the ball is thrown it doesn't look like there was a push. Randy Moss is one of the best I've ever seen at discreetly pushing off though.

did it say 4 catches? 27 yards? that is something like i recall the game, but my memory isn't the greatest. i remember thinking at the time its too bad Newman gave up the scores because otherwise he played a very good game, IMO. if anyone can cover Randy Moss better than Newman, I haven't seen him. If Moss had half the motivation that he has talent, that would be scary... Funny when you think about it, but what Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith did came probably more from motivation than sheer talent.
