Along with the Kardashians, I can honestly say I do not understand or have watched other shows like Survivor, The Bachelor, Big Brother, The Housewives of <insert city>, etc. I don't get it. There is no reality. It's contrived fiction. Why the pretense? Soap operas never pretended to be reality. Even so, "reality television" has replaced soap operas in popularity. Has western civilization evolved to a stage where fake fiction as entertainment is necessary for enjoyment?
