I'm not overly thrilled with Barber's deal either - RB's are too easy to replace.....he makes some good points....Love Barber but shu-eeeze.

I agree with this. I don't see why we couldn't just wait out the year to see how Barber did as the feature back before committing boatloads of cash to him. It also would have given us the time to decide if Choice/Jones could carry the load in 2009 if need be.

However, if this is going to be a salary-cap free era then JJ can spend his money however he likes.

Barber is the heart and soul of this team. Not Ware, TO, Newman, or even Romo!
I know it's a lot of money and it's scary to use that much on a back, but can you name another player on this team that when he is in the game, is going to give you everything he has and leave everything on the field?

He energizes the entire team and the fans. He isn't selfish and is a true teammate. I'll bet there are probably 30 other teams that would pay $45mil for him in a second.

I'm glad we don't have to tackle him. I think fans tend to forget what he is capable of, and how the fans react when he goes into the game. I must assume that it's because he doesn't have straight line speed.

This kid is a stud and deserves/earned this pay. Need I remind you of the NE play in the endzone last year? What has Michael Turner done lately? How about Larry Johnson?

Whether Barber started or not all season is irrelevent...whether he is the full time, carry the load starter this year or not is irrelevent.

Look at our record...look at our team...ask yourself, "Where would we have been last season without MBIII?"

Where would our offense be this season without MBIII?

Jason Garrett made a point to single MBIII out for praise as a football player after the Giants loss in the playoffs...he clearly thinks MBIII is vital and worth it.

Even if MBIII were to only average 15 carries/game this season while Felix Jones gets 8-10, that doesn't make MBIII less than a bargain. Look at his TD production and his importance to our offense...He doesn't have to rush for 1500 yards to be worth every penny, nor does he have to carry the load and be a superstar back that keeps all the other backs on the sideline in order to earn his money...if he grinds it out, gets our first downs, scores TD's at his past rate, and finishes the 4th quarter, he's a bargain....if he does even more, then he's a steal.

i'm glad we have barber... period, he made a difference in all of our games. Newman on the other hand was solid. Nothing special, it was Henry early on that was hot untill injury.


Some Cowboys fans are crazy about newman...Seriosuly the guy had one good rookie year a crappy 2nd year and hs been solid after that. Look I love the guy but he's way to over hyped by some of us. IMO when Henry is not injured and is playing at 100% He's a much better playmaking CB.

I'm glad we kept Barber, I like him a lot, but I don't get the deal either especially in light of our drafting of Felix Jones and Tashard Choice.

Basically, Barber's deal is a 3, 4 year one. He'll be nearing 30 and we'll have 2 RB's in their prime behind him. We can groom Choice to take that role if we decided to cut ties with The Barbarian 3 years down the line.

The Cowboys are thinking ahead -- smart move.

Before the draft a lot of analysts were saying that Dallas would be dumb if they tried to trade up and draft McFadden. They said that Dallas should just use their resources to re-sign Barber. Well, Jerry has done just that.

for the record Newman is better but we do not flip CBs, so no one takes a WR very often. Newman gets the tough slot matchups but it can be any WR.

Henry does make more plays because he plays the ball, but is also much more beatable.

Well if you count when BP had Tnew shading santanta the whole game. All i am saying is I'd leave TNewman on an island with almost any WR in the NFL thats not named TO or Randy MOss. I don't think the same could be said for Henry.

he shaded steve smith, a top 5 wr 2 years ago and smith had 1 catch for 18 yards.

He isnt a ball hawk, but prob the best coverage corner in the league now. .
