Next Head Coach?

If the Dallas Cowboys decide to move on from Brian Schottenheimer, I think the biggest question is whether they need another offensive minded head coach or someone who can finally get the defense playing at a consistently high level.

For me, the next hire should be evaluated on three things: proven leadership, a clear defensive philosophy, and the ability to build a coaching staff that complements Dak Prescott and the roster.

Brian Flores, Chris Shula, or even Klint Kubiak are possible places to start and go from there. Go outside the organization and not promote from within. And most importantly give him the power to make real changes and not be a Jerry Jones yes man.

Ben Johnson, John Harbaugh, Jim Harbaugh any of those would have been fine but it’s typical yes men. 31 years of this guy pretending to know football but refuses to let a coach with some brass balls come i here and reset the culture but that wouldn’t allow Jerry play with his toy and his ridiculous post game press conference and radio hits

It would be tricky for sure.........

They were going to assign Schotty as OC to whoever the next HC was after McCarthy, then decided he interviewed so well and Dak liked him so much, why not just make him the HC.

That's the pattern to look for with Jerry and Son:

1) Will he be cheap and not demand too much power
2) Will Dak approve (can't change too much about the offense)

Who could you see potentially as our next head coach?
First of all, I don't think he's going to be fired,

not because Jerry's ego is too big to admit mistakes, but because I just don't think he's doing as badly as people believe. The players on the field need to do their jobs and execute; it starts there, and that goes a long way. What will Brian Schottenheimer and Christian Parker do with this extra three or four days to evaluate film? Will they make the necessary changes? If they stick with the same depth chart, the same splitting of reps, and everything looks unchanged after this break, then I'll start thinking Brian Schottenheimer is either acting as Jerry's puppet—which I doubt—or he's simply not capable and doesn’t want to hurt feelings. It’s time to put feelings aside.

I’m changing my stance on whether he should be let go or not.

From what I’ve seen in the first three games after the break, what real changes have been made? Passing little notes telling people to do better isn’t enough, you need to lead by example. Demoting 78 and 87 in the offense needs to change. On defense, I’m tired of hearing how you can run any scheme and adjust to talent; it’s time to adapt to this roster. If you need to be more blitz-heavy and less zone, more man and less zone, or try unconventional approaches that might be uncomfortable, then do it. Christian Parker, this is your chance to show you’re different from Matt Eberflus. Matt is a seasoned defensive coordinator with a big ego, but you’re new and have something to prove—failure will be the perception if this continues. Yes, players must be held accountable, but it’s time to reassess the depth chart: elevate some, demote others, find a better mix, and execute it with a stronger scheme.

I don't know how people are supposed to judge this defense we don't even know where these guys are supposed to be lining up what they're supposed to be doing like what assignments they have, and everyone just thinks they know what they see with their eyes!!

Everyone’s blaming Dak Prescott for not playing well in that game, and while he didn’t perform great, he also didn’t get much help. He could have made a strong comeback, they were on the road beating that team, just like they could have beaten the Giants with more possessions. People forget about the Turpin fumble; the passes may not have been perfect, but they were very catchable. That’s what the tight end Ferguson is paid to do, if a ball goes through your hands and hits your helmet, it was more than catchable.

And remember Flournoy in the Lions game? The ball bounced off his hands too. Blocking was poor, blitz pickups failed, tackling was nonexistent, and the defense was awful. Yet all we do is talk about Dak because that’s what sticks in our memories.

That’s not the main point I’m making here. I’m saying be careful about what you think you’re seeing,

there’s more to it.

Dak is part of a bigger mess of bad defensive play, like a flash flood happening so fast that everything’s breaking down.

They’re probably overcorrecting or overthinking, and everyone’s trying to do more than their own job, which is failing them as a group. There aren’t many bright spots, and the defense is terrible, though they’re trying to transition.

I believe it will happen, whether by the end of this year or next. Christian Parker and the rookies need time to reach their potential, though I didn’t expect it to take this long. I’m not sure what’s going on with Parker, but I hope in these 10 days he doesn’t turn into Matt Eberflus, someone who just sticks to the same approach.

That applies to the whole coaching staff, and as Brian Schottenheimer said in an interview, they’re going to Evaluate everything and make changes well let me see those changes..

I don't, i'm going to start moving to that side of this argument from the fan base that they need to scrap and start over but right now in the middle of season no Other than Sorenson being fired to make a point and wake everyone up maybe that's the only firing I see that makes sense.

I don't think any of this is happening but if it does how about Mike Tomlin for what's a defensive coach that that may not be as hard nosed as he used to be but he would garner respect immediately And if we're having problems on defense why not bring in a defensive head coach like someone else mentioned maybe Brian Flores I mean not because he's gonna perfect the defense because I guarantee at some point his aggressiveness is gonna burn him like it did with Dan Campbell right now is not fouling the Magic after his assistants left but I'm just saying maybe it's time for a different philosophy and stop looking at it this is an offensive team and bring in a respectable coach that's defensive minded I mean Mike Mccarthy obviously he was a Packer and now he's a Steeler he's good enough to coach some of the better franchises in the history of football and people say Jerry won't hire anybody but puppets and weak people he can push around well then how is Mike Mccarthy did in all that Bill Purcells and all that he he can he will and maybe it's time But this time instead of like Mike Mccarthy offensive side we need to do Mike Tomlin'cause people are now saying we'd experience so Brian Flores is not I guess super experienced He did fail although I think the Dolphins helped him fail Maybe it wasn't all him i'm good with those two names that's the names I'm putting in..

Akoye breaks down defensive plays of Tampa game. His thoughts were the scheme wasn't the problem but the players weren't executing plays called. He had a problem with Shotty play calling. Example over and over shotgun in a empty back field.

Shotty is dead man walking. Good as gone. CP might be too. For me, you elevate Klayton Adams or you go hire Chris Shula. Otherwise, your looking at hiring a retread like Gruden or Tomlin. Either are upgrades though. Shotty just seems uninspiring. Can't get the team to rally around to listen. CP is in over his head we lack good players. Not a great combo.

It'll be a retread, for sure, after this little experiment has failed. Maybe I'm a fool but I'm still not entirely out on Schotty and CP, but I'm definitely walking toward the door.
Same here. I’ll end up stopping at the door and waiting until they’re mathematically eliminated before I open it.

I didn't like McCarthy and Quinn much at all, but in comparison it's like night and day.

Sad but true
