Most of today's news coverage was about the new Ring of Honor Walk at the Star, so a simple question. Who do you think will be the next player to get in?

These would be my candidates:

1. Tony Romo: I personally don't think he gets in for the same reason as Danny White. Love Romo but he never took us to a championship game let alone a Super Bowl.

2. DeMarcus Ware: Does the franchise's all-time sack leader get in? I'm on the fence.

3. Deion Sanders: I don't think he was a Cowboy long enough (though Haley only played for the boys from 92 to 96)

4. Jerry Jones: He gets in, but probably not until ownership is passed to his sons sometime in the future.

5. Jason Witten: Obviously he's still playing - If he's the next one in (and let's face it, he going in) that would mean no one else gets in over the next 4 or 5 years.

Who am I missing? Jay Novacek? Danny White?

Jimmy Johnson

I think you can make a case for lots of guys before most of the players listed IMO. There are guys I would like to see in that have excluded as well but they have gotten no consideration and honestly, I am not sure that is going to change any time soon. I hope it does but I am not sure it will.

I would love to see a player like Jim Jeffcoat, who will probably not get in, but should IMO. No Pro Bowls or All Pro teams but over a hundred sacks in his career, only Ware had more for the Cowboys, and a really fine player for us, in every sense. A player like Daryl Johnston, again probably not getting in but, a very valuable player for the Cowboys and a guy that blocked for the all time leading rusher in the history of the game. A very key guy to the 90s Cowboys and a guy that we probably don't win three Super Bowls without. Maybe a guy like Jay Novacek. He's tougher because half of his career he spent with the Cards but 3 Super Bowls with us, 5 Pro Bowls and two All Pro Teams. Again, a guy who we probably don't win 3 Super Bowls without.

I agree about Jimmy but I am not sure if that happens, because of the History, until Jerry is closer to leaving anyway. I don't know.

I think if they played for any other team they would be in the ROH. I've been looking at some other teams ROH and many are good but not great players. I think the Cowboys always made the distinction between the two. Maybe that will change in the years to come. I know there are some great ones that still aren't in there though.

I'll root against this team for the rest of my life if they put Deion Sanders in the ROH

I would've put Jimmy in before Emmitt Smith. That should tell who I think should be next

I'd like to see Too Tall, and Drew Pearson in there before any of the guys on that list. there's plenty of time, oh and NO to Deion.

It will be a player that allows Jerry Jones to pay homage to himself.

The two best candidates are Tony Romo and Demarcus Ware. Jerry will explain how he personally oversaw the development of Romo. Ware is a good choice because then Jerry can explain how he overruled Parcells, a legitimate Super bowl winning coach.

It won't be any of the dozen deserving players that helped build the Cowboy winning tradition long before Jerry showed up. That would imply that the Cowboys actually had a relevant history before Jerry Jones graced us all with his "stewardship" of the franchise.

Seems like Ware is most likely a hall of fame player. How can you be in the hall of fame but not on the ring of honor.

Whatever his weaknesses, Jones has done a good job with the ROH, including recognizing greats who predated his ownership. Haley might be the choice that came more from the heart than the head, given his short tenure in Dallas. But Haley was an impact player.

I will always be most attached to the Landry-era Cowboys. I was young. Cornell Green is probably the most obvious omission.

I would love to see Brandt and Johnson honored. Make it a trio with Green.

Another name - George Andrie. His case might be better than any Landry-era choices. Maybe even Green. If you don't recall him, read up on him. Sacks weren't an official stat then and so don't count in NFL records. The Cowboys had him at 18.5 one season. Fewer games those days, and fewer passes.
