Next weekend - coaching decisions

None of this will happen. JG will play all starters and play to win the game.

My hope is Philly crushes us like 40-0 or something.

Yep. No reason to play him in a meaningless game. Should have used him more in the second half last game. Don't want him to get hurt. Don't want to waste his legs. Heck I'd sit most of the starters anyway.
I agree. Any important players tear an ACL this late, and their season next year is in jeopardy. This is basically a meaningless pre-season game for both teams.

We're out. We've got one game left. Will the coaching team use the opportunity wisely or will it be wasted. Here's what needs to be done:

Garrett will play to win, to save his job. Jerry needs a reason to tell the fans there is hope for next year. However you make some good points.

1. Rush has to start at QB. We need some data on him. He needs some meaningful reps. We have enough data on Dak.
Doesn't start, but play him in the 2nd half or at least the 4th quarter depending on how the game is going.

2. Tyron needs to sit out the game - no point in risking injury.
Agree

3. Dan Bailey needs to go on IR. He's not right yet. Sign a rookie to get thru the game.
Just let Heath K, or go for 2 points...oh wait, they won't get TD's inside the 5. nothing wrong with Bailey kicking, he needs the work to go out on a good game.

4. Jarwin Blake needs some reps - to see why we were forced to put him on the active roster to prevent others signing him.
Agree, as they don't seem to want to use Swaim or Hanna as often as they should.

5. Kevin Frazier starts at Safety.
not sure this accomplishes anything, as they can try this in TC, but I wouldn't mind seeing it.

6. Byron Jones moves back to corner - safety doesnt suit him.
see #5

7. Dez needs to be benched. Dont mind him starting and sitting after a series, but I want to see Noah Brown more.
Dez needs a good game even if against scrubs, but play him, but still need to see a lot of Noah Brown as well. Bt yes, sit him later.

8. Scandrick sits out. Let the rookies get more game time.
Agree, as Scandrick is done anyway.

9. Taco starts.
yes let him play as much as possible.

10. Zeke gets 25 carries. Need him to go into the offseason with a good game. Need a running game to evaluate Rush correctly.
Zeke, as Dak and Dez, plays the first half, maybe even into the 4th quarter, depending on the game. They all 3 need to go out on a positive note. But I wouldn't say he needs 25 carries. But it would be nice so he can get 100 yards for the year.

This is correct, I think. But it would be nice to get him some reps.
Dak was a lot better when he had romo on the bench waiting....

Garrett always has said...competition up and down the roster us critical

Dak has to learn to throw received open...not to just throw to a open man. . speed in the NFL is too high

And because likely on scout team c.rush has a feeling now for b.jarwin and n.brown. ..sure wish rico wasn't witten'ized on mothballs

Who would you bench Dez with Rush, while keeping Zeke in, if you want to evaluate players? Dez, I’m pretty sure, wouldn’t mind Rush throwing him the ball, because he already knows what Dak gives him..

Romo waiting or Romo coaching him..

Dak looked pretty desperate to make something happen when he knew Romo was about to get in the game against the Eagles.. I’ll bet you Dak would fold if he had a real threat and competition over his shoulder..

nice list

1. agreed rush should play most of the game.
2. agreed tyron to ir. a te should be chipping the de though some of the time.
3. let #38 do the kicking. go more on 4th downs to test rush.
4. yes let jarwin played. #82 can take a seat and may be he will realize his time is past.
5. yes frazer can start
6. yes try jones on cb
7. dont care about dez, but brown needs to play a lot
8. yes, scandrick needs to sit
9. taco should start but at rde or lde?
10. zeke should get half the game

Me too....not sure why you want Zeke out there in that mess. I'd feed Smith. #10 is the same thinking this coaching staff exhibits. Risk you major asset in a meaningless game.

BTW....Jerry please issue pink slips to the coaching staff on the tarmac. Have them clean out office space before traveling to Philly.
Jerry should come down and cut Dez in the middle of the field.

All you guys asking for Zeke are going to be so pissed off if he blows out a knee in a meaningless game and misses 8 games next year.

I would play Scandrick and Dez all game long including special teams. They don't deserve the time off.
Put Dez at DT and play him 100% of the snaps. Let the Eagles set a record for pancake blocks. Tell them ahead of time to study Albert Haynesworth's face stomping technique.

Meh. No thanks.

2. Tyron needs to sit out the game - no point in risking injury.
I don't think he would play anyway. I would give Green a few snaps to see if his horrible game was a fluke or if his two excellent games from 2016 were the fluke.

3. Dan Bailey needs to go on IR. He's not right yet. Sign a rookie to get thru the game.
Just use Heath.

4. Jarwin Blake needs some reps - to see why we were forced to put him on the active roster to prevent others signing him.
I think his name is Blake Jarwin.

5. Kevin Frazier starts at Safety.
Kevon.

He has played a lot of snaps this season. I think everybody already knows he is good against the run but has limited range.

6. Byron Jones moves back to corner - safety doesnt suit him.
Did you see the deep sideline play the other day that he broke up? The other Safeties on the roster can't make that play.

7. Dez needs to be benched. Dont mind him starting and sitting after a series, but I want to see Noah Brown more.
Dez needs to be cut.

8. Scandrick sits out. Let the rookies get more game time.
Agree.

9. Taco starts.
Reward DLaw by letting him play and rack up more stats.

10. Zeke gets 25 carries. Need him to go into the offseason with a good game. Need a running game to evaluate Rush correctly.
No.

I take it you don't like Dez much? Who knew?

We would at least see the real Dak if there was some level of compeititon for the spot, and long term its what we need. Will Garrett allow it.....

There is a series of blog posts on a BTB thread by Fuzzylogic, 80% of the way down in comments on the following BTB article showing how Dak almost will not throw a guy open that the scheme tries to present to him........the pattern is by TWill, ............
https://www.bloggingtheboys.com/201...oys-jason-garrett-scott-linehan-rod-marinelli
---in todays NFL these are throws Dak has to learn to see developing and throw into the spot where TWill will be, he also has another with Dez later down....its like Dak doesnt trust the receivers, the scheme....or himself----and that is the fail of this teams offense this year.
I wish knew how to copy past the pertinent string of comments into this or a new thread here.......anyone....

In all the hours of practice, is this something the coaches have been unable to change?........or does Daks lack of accuracy enter into the equation ?

You made lots of sense up until the Zeke thing. Why risk a great player like that? And he should not be rewarded for this season. Bench his *** and let him rot on the sidelines like the rest of the veterans to think about how bad they stunk it up this year.

I agree. I think JGs job is on the line if we drop to 8-8.

I think Dez's days are numbered. His salary is too high v his production.

My view on Zeke is that due to the risks with him, he isnt getting a 2nd contract. Run him into the ground for 3-4 years.

It’s not possible to cut him next year because of cap implications. So why not start him with Rush and see if he can actually throw it to where Dak can run after the catch?
