Well it depends on how you view it. If you watch this team and feel like they are underachieving than you may have a point. But I think he inherited a 6-10 and currently has a 8-8 team playing decent football. But I don't see this team as underachievers and I don't blame him for being 8-8. We're not as good as the Bronco's or Chiefs and we're jus as good as the Chargers. That's where our 3 losses have come from. And for what its worth it seems like this team is getting better by the game aside from the Chargers game.

He inherited s 6-10 team that many people had picked as Super Bowl champs. It is really sad that this team is not better than the Chiefs. How can they go from two wins to being a very good team and Dallas goes 8-8 every year ? Seems like coaching can turn things around everywhere but Dallas.

He inherited a team that went 11-5 the previous season and won a playoff game. He inherited a team with a top 10 QB, a future HOF TE and one of the great sack masters in the game plus a very talented rookie WR. Jim Harbaugh inherited a 6-10 team in 2011 that was being led by a bus driver QB. SF hadn't won anything in a decade and he immediately turned that team around. Andy Reid inherited a 2-14 team this season and has the Chiefs undefeated.

The Cowboys have spun their wheels under Garrett for almost 4 years at 500. A solid HC would have had this team playing at a championship level in 2 seasons. The key parts were there when Garrett took over in 2010 and almost 4 years later the Cowboys are still spinning their wheels at 500. The Cowboys were 3-3 at this time last year and were 3-3 at this time in 2011. We're seeing the same 500 team every year. How many more 500 seasons do some of you need to see before you want a coaching change? Heck Garrett went 5-3 with the team he had in 2010 that was being led by Jon Kitna and and all he's accomplished since is 500 seasons with a much more talented roster.

Another draft like the last 2 maybe 3 is all we can hope for. If we find another free agent like waters to sprinkle in it would be nice. I think that our scouts have really stepped up in regards to our draft , really don't know about free agency as our G.M. has us in a bind salary cap wise.

No more drafts like the one in 2012, thanks. It was a total waste.

But many more drafts like the most recent - ie. spending a premium pick on a line man, not drafting RBs too high, looking out for future replacements, taking a shot on an intriguing receiver prospect etc. It can be done differently, considering your needs (no, I'm not a strict BPA proponent). Hopefully the 2013 draft was a sign that Jerry has learned a thing or two from his own mistakes. Because I liked this draft, as soon as it was completed. And I think we have allready seen some proof that it was a good draft strategy.

I don't think the scouts have stepped up. I'm pretty sure they have always done their job. Jerry and his decision making is the critical part. As I said, hopefully it was not just an anomaly in April.

Anyone else think Jerry goes all out on the D-line and we become a powerhouse? 2 years ago addressed CB, this year o-line, and next year should be d-line. I think the LB and saftey play will improve with experience.

Still need to address the O-line.There's no guarantee that Waters will want to play beyond this year, and there's always room for improvement.I agree about D-line.

Garrett's not the main reason they've been spinning their wheels for almost 4 years.

Yeah a 500 club has the crappy end of both sides. Not bad enough to draft high and not good enough to make the dance. This is the worst place to be for a team.

Maybe so but I'm just glad I'm not a fan of the Giants, Texans, or Falcons. Big dreams to start the season and all three are very nearly finished before the midway point. Ouch. We still have dreams.

He's not the main reason it's the man that hired him who's the main reason.

Yup, just like the Falcons were ready to roll this year with the addition of Action Jackson. Whoops. Smell the roses now, enjoy THIS year because I don't care how good (or bad) it looks on paper, things happen.

Anyone who's followed Jackson's career knew he wouldn't stay healthy. He misses games practically every year.

Yeah, but he wasn't supposed to be a bell cow running back. He was simply supposed to be the missing link to SB glory. And that team is already done. Just making the point that just when you think you've got everything figured out, reality hits.

I don't really want to think about next spring just yet, but since you have me there....

....Crawford & Bass will be back (Starter and rotation)...if the rest of the DL can stay healthy and they re-sign Hatch, then a tweak here and there will make the DL good to very good...the aura (dare I say "stink") around Ratliff is likely to be gone as well as not having to count on Spencer...the WR's are coming around as a unit (TWill has been turning some heads)...I think that the FO needs to already have their decisions ready on guys like Ratliff, Spencer, Austin, Bernadeau, et al....and stick to their guns...I say the only one of them back should be Austin unless some deal drops in their lap...the draft needs to be BPA so they need to have the roster ready to go, and if that includes Waters, then get him signed early so the drama is gone...if he is there, then a G is important in the draft but it may no longer be THE top priority along with DL

....personally, I think the team will be just fine if they can stay healthy...don't forget, Matt Johnson will be back!!!! (Fredd ducks)

Complete team?

Next year - Romo and Witten will be one year older, slower, and less effective. Ware is almost done. Waters is a stop gap at OG. Murray is made of glass.

Our needs next year are going to be huge !!!

This. I don't see a Cowboy juggernaut on the horizon. And we are cap pinched in the worst way.

Regardless he's an aging RB who can't stay healthy it took only 14 carries for him to get hurt. The problem with Atlanta is they entered this season with a hangover from what happened to them in the NFC title game last year. They had the game won and blew it and I believe the disappointment has carried over to this season. Plus Roddy White has been hurt all season he only has 14 catches for 129 yards. He had 37 catches for 531 yards after the first 6 games last season now Juilo Jones may be out for the season.

Only thing that will hold us back from making a serious run this year is our DL. Next years draft we can make that our focus and get at the minimum 1 starter and 1 rotational guy. Romo will be fine age wise and Witten will be just as slow as he is today but still catch 75 balls. Next yr we make a serious run at it and with a little luck this year we wet our beak.

We've been saying "next year" for the last 17 years. Can we focus on taking this year's team as far as it can possibly go? We have the tools for it in the coaching ranks and on the field. We just have to hope that they can put it all together.

Next year, we have some fairly serious cap issue that will need to be dealt with.
We hear that every year. This time last year people claimed that they would be 40M over the cap in 2014, yet they signed Romo to a new contract, Franchised Spencer and kept Austin and Ratliff.

They will have plenty of flexibility with the 2014 cap as long as they don't franchise anyone. You might hear Stephen Jones say it's tight, but that's primarily because he is a better poker player than his Father and is just trying to limit the fans and players expectations. He might use it as an excuse to ask a player like Ware to take a pay cut similar to what they did with Doug Free this year.

I'm not saying that they can sign multiple top Free Agents, but they will be able to make some reasonable moves.
