Historically, I don't think anyone can argue against NFC East being the toughest division.

This year, BSPN TRIED to convince the sports nation that the NFC East teams just weren't that good. However, proving once again that they are clueless about football, this division has more contenders than any other division!

The NFC East is, and has always been the toughest division in football. We are the cream of the crop which every other division fears having to play as we rotate throughout the league. And coming out of this toughest division in the NFL, the Cowboys are STILL the winningest franchise in the history of football, and the best!

Here are the records in out-of-division games this year:

AFCE: 18-18
AFCN: 18-18
AFCS: 24-12
AFCW: 17-21
NFCE: 22-16
NFCN: 18-20
NFCS: 21-19
NFCW: 12-26

For this season, I'd put the AFCS first, based on this and the fact that they may finish with no team under .500. But the NFCE is right behind, and the top 3 in the NFCE are clearly better than the top 3 in the AFCS.

For all time, it's obvious, as Hos's post makes clear.

The AFCS and NFCN numbers are inflated, because they played the NFCW - easily the most pathetic division in the NFL. You also mentioned that the AFCS might have no teams under .500, but they may also wind up with only one team above .500. This division will probably also end up with only one playoff team. The AFCS should rank 3rd behind the NFCE and AFCN.

The NFCE beneffited from easy schedules this year. The Gints and Commanders both stink.

AFCS and I think even the North are both better.

The AFCS teams all played San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Buffalo, and Miami. The Giants wouldn't have trouble with any of these teams, and Washington is better than Seattle and St. Louis. You could also make an argument than the Giants are better than the Texans, Jaguars, and Titans.

Exactly!!! The quality of opponent you play is another BIG factor in determining your record. I live in AZ, and the Cardinals play in the ABSOLUTE WEAKEST division in the NFL...it's pathetic! I often wonder how often we would go undefeated if Dallas actually played in the NFCW instead of the NFCE...Man! The 49ers are the only (traditionally) respectable franchise in the whole division, and even they are pretty terrible at the moment.

This division was starting to look pretty overrated as the season progressed, but Philly and Dallas look as good as any teams in the league right now.
