NFC Pro bowl voting -- Cowboys are lagging behind

AdamJT13;3087252 said:
Remember, the fan voting DOES NOT decide who goes to the Pro Bowl. In theory, the fan voting counts one-third (with the players and coaches also each counting one-third). But in reality, the fan voting counts less than that. Plenty of players have been Pro Bowl starters without being in the top five in the fan voting, and plenty of players who won the fan voting weren't even an alternate after the coaches' votes and players' votes were included.
Hopefully, everyone will read this and finally understand how pro bowl balloting actually works.

Good post, AdamJT13.

I could care less how many Cowboys make the Pro Bowl. About the only ones I would feel insulted if they didn't make it would be Ware and Ratliff.

As for the fan vote, it is so unimportant to me, I cannot even begin to describe it. What the average fan knows about football is astonishingly bad and when you see nonsense like this which is barely a step above a 3rd grade popularity contest for class president it is confirmed.

The pro bowl is like the snooze alarm...good for 5 more minutes of football after the real deal has been completed. I appreciate your passion but seriously? Pro Bowl and All Star voting and the actual games themselves are absolute snooze fests and unimportant in my opinion. Just ask the players who get voted in and then call off with some injury each year.

actually the game itself is a different issue than who gets selected to the game. I always have interest in selections yet stopped watching the game years ago

If Ratliff doesn't make the pro bowl, I'm Tanya Harding someone's ***

The pro bowl is irrelevant. Case in point; Flozell made it last year despite ranking bottom third in sacks allowed, rushing yards gained behind, and lead the league in penalties. Its meaningless and does not necessarily vouch for any given player's abilities and accomplishments.

Adams was a second alternate last year, and he didn't lead the league in penalties (Kwame Harris, for one, had more penalties). Also, we were 16th in YPC behind left tackle and fourth in YPC to the left end. Adams allowed 7.25 sacks, which is in the "bottom third" only if you include left tackles who started and played a lot less than he did.

As always, when you claim someone didn't deserve to make the Pro Bowl as a second alternate, you don't have an argument if you can't name any players who should have gone instead. So, who should have gone instead?

LMAO @ Adams

Just wow. I wouldn't even vote for him on a near all Cowboys ticket.

Go ahead and name the four tackles that are better. The Adam's hatred is utterly ignorant and the football ignorant really show their true colors when it comes to discussing him and his position.

Here are the other 7 offensive linemen that made the pro-bowl and Adams:

Player.......GP...........Pennalities....(FalsStarts)...(Holds).....Sacks Allowed

Flozell Adams....16...13..............9.....................3...........7.25
Walter Jones...12.....0...............0.....................0...........3.50(4.7)
Chris Samuels...12....5..............1.....................4...........3.00 (4)
Chad Clifton......15...7...............4...................4.............7.50 (8)
Matt Light........16....2..............1...................1..............7.50
Jason Peters.....12....9.............4.....................3..........11.50 (15.3)
Joe Thomas......16.....7.............4....................1..............4.50
Marcus McNeil...16.....4.............4....................0.............9.50

Somehow I doubt your states are correct Roadrunner or that they are actually stats and not just pulled out of your butt.

Just here among pro-bowlers he was just over the mean for sacks allowed (that means he was middle of the pack among PRO-BOWLERS, don't really see him being bottom third of the league:rolleyes:. )

As far as penalties go, he was again about average in holds, among pro-bowlers. Now granted, I will give you his false starts are ridiculously high, but did you know he is deaf in one ear, guess which ear...right.

I don't know if he led the league in penalties, I started looking through some stat books but got tired of it. I will tell you if he did lead the league it was not by much because just going through the first half of the offensive tackles I saw several (3+) with 10 penalties and one with 11....Babe Ruth struck out more than most. Not a perfect analogy but something to consider.

Are Flo's false starts annoying? Yeah, they are. But he does an excellent job (unless of course you go around making up stats about him and then he looks poor). He is actually in the top half of PRO-BOWLERS when it comes to sacks given up (when you trend out the stats for a full 16 games), pretty good position to be in if you ask me.

I would trade Flozell straight up for Walter Jones. And that is it. He is arguably top 5 in the league and with out a doubt top 10 anyway you look at it.

***Edit: Combine this and AdamJT13's post #31 and anyone that wants to keep pissin' and moanin' about flozell, go ahead, and look like a fool.

I'd vote for Ware and Ratlif; I could probably vote for Davis. I don't think there's another Cowboy that I could vote for this season.

I love my Cowboys, but it's a joke that anyone would vote for Miles Austin as a probowler.

How about QB pressures he has allowed lets not forget his false starts that have killed drives, the number of holds and trips he has had to do because of his horrible play. Flo is not a ProBowl LT he is a mediocre LT.

He was one of the main reasons the offense struggled in GB not Colombo being injured

I don't care if none of them make it. All it does when they do is fuel the perception that we're uber-talented underachievers.

And it seemed to fire up the Giants in 2007 when almost none of them made it. (Only one, IIRC?) So maybe the same thing can happen to us.

Like I said keep arguing about it. You have absolutely nothing to back up your argument with. Every single statistic there is says your wrong (ignoring them like you just did does not make you right), and let me just go ahead and assure you, you are wrong. Flozell may not be top 5 (I would say he is but people (not you because you don't have the football smarts to do it), people could make an argument against that.) But no one with half a brain is going to argue his is not top 10 in the league, easy.

Where did I say he was bottom if Flo is a Pro Bowl LT then the NFL is in dire straights at LT. I have seen ProBowl LT play before in Dallas even from Flo in years past.

If this is ProBowl LT play now it is a joke sorry he is not deserving of a ProBowl by the play on the field. I do not watch all 16 LT's I love to have the game tape and be able to watch everyone for a living but that is not what I get payed to do. I can only tell you from what I seen on the field from Flo and at it is not ProBowl worthy level of play.

So spin what ever you want throw out what ever you want he is not ProBowl worthy by his play

:lmao:how do you know if he is not worth of ProBowl play if you don't even watch (or apparently can't even name at least four other tackles)???

Because I seen better play from Flo in the Probowl Larry Allen in his prime, Mark Tunei I seen Waler Jones of past and watch him a lot he played well

I have not watched all 16 LT's it is a fact but then again you could throw out for names and what does that prove it is 4 names you could throw out 4 names from winning teams and that does not make them ProBowl worthy.

I seen the Pit line they are a good team but their oline is playing medicore this year. Dallas oline has been up and down this year and Flo has not played to a level that is Probowl caliber.

I mean the Giants started off the season playing great on the oline and have faded. The Colts LT I watch one game played great but that is only one game I saw him play how was he over the other games

See you talk a lot of crap and you are throwing out stats but what are their QB pressures they gave up ?

How many olineman have you seen play every game ? So sorry if I do not buy into your line of thinking. I am not going to go on here and pretend to know how every lineman in the NFL is playing. I can only tell you from what I have seen of Adams play and it is not a ProBowl level of play.
