NFC Pro bowl voting -- Cowboys are lagging behind

Some people might consider it a good thing, but most of the Cowboys are lagging behind in the fans' voting for the Pro Bowl. If the fans decided to went – and they don't, by any stretch – the Cowboys' only Pro Bowl players would be DeMarcus Ware, Miles Austin and Flozell Adams, and the NFC roster would be dominated by Saints and Vikings.

Ware has more than twice as many votes as any other NFC outside linebacker, and rightfully so. He also has almost 40 percent more votes than the AFC leader at outside linebacker, James Harrison. Austin is third at wide receiver, a little behind DeSean Jackson and a little ahead of Marques Colston. Those three players are far behind the leader, Larry Fitzgerald, but also well ahead of Percy Harvin, who is in fifth. Adams is barely behind Jon Stinchcomb for the No. 2 tackle spot and barely ahead of Phil Loadholt, who is No. 3.

Among the Cowboys who are NOT in the top five at their position are Tony Romo, Jay Ratliff and Leonard Davis. The others who are in the top five are Deon Anderson (fourth), Jason Witten (fourth), Andre Gurode (fourth), Ken Hamlin (fourth), Gerald Sensabaugh (fifth), Mat McBriar (third), Nick Folk (fourth), Allen Rossum (fifth at KR/PR) and Sam Hurd (second at special teamer).

Here's the current top five at each position in the NFC --

QB -- Brees, Favre, Rodgers, Manning, Ryan

RB -- Peterson, Turner, Gore, DeAngelo Williams, Steven Jackson

FB -- Naufahu Tahi, Leonard Weaver, John Kuhn, Deon Anderson, Heath Evans

WR -- Fitzgerald, DeSean Jackson, Austin, Colston, Harvin

TE -- Gonzalez, Shockey, Vernon Davis, Witten, Shiancoe

C -- John Sullivan, Jonathan Goodwin, O'Hara, Gurode, Kreutz

G -- Hutchinson, Anthony Herrera, Chris Snee, Carl Nicks, Jahri Evans

T -- McKinnie, Stinchcomb, Adams, Loadholt, Bushrod

DT -- Pat Williams, Kevin Williams, Haynesworth, Darnell Dockett, Sedrick Ellis

DE -- Jared Allen, Peppers, Umenyiora, Tuck, Will Smith

ILB -- Willis, Vilma, Hawk, E.J. Henderson, Pierce

OLB -- DeMarcus Ware, Greenway, Fujita, Kampman, Lance Briggs

CB -- Samuel, Winfield, Woodson, Rodgers-Cromartie, Harris

FS -- Sharper, Andtrel Rolle, Madieu Williams, Ken Hamlin, Nick Collins

SS -- Adrian Wilson, Roman Harper, Tyrell Johnson, Atari Bigby, Gerald Sensabaugh

K -- Longwell, Akers, Carney, Folk, Crosby

P -- Feagles, Kluwe, McBriar, Thomas Morstead, Andy Lee

PR/KR -- Harvin, DeSean Jackson, Hester, Reggie Bush, Allen Rossum

ST -- Heath Farwell, Sam Hurd, Troy Evans, Desmond Bishop, Chase Blackburn

Remember, the fan voting DOES NOT decide who goes to the Pro Bowl. In theory, the fan voting counts one-third (with the players and coaches also each counting one-third). But in reality, the fan voting counts less than that. Plenty of players have been Pro Bowl starters without being in the top five in the fan voting, and plenty of players who won the fan voting weren't even an alternate after the coaches' votes and players' votes were included.

The pro bowl is like the snooze alarm...good for 5 more minutes of football after the real deal has been completed. I appreciate your passion but seriously? Pro Bowl and All Star voting and the actual games themselves are absolute snooze fests and unimportant in my opinion. Just ask the players who get voted in and then call off with some injury each year.

This year it'll be happening before the "real done has been completed". And some people just want to know these things regardless. No one will say they're a huge fan but we're fans of the team and we root for our players to make it. I don't see the big deal.

Ryan ahead of Romo is a joke.

Not gonna lie, I want Romo to get a Pro Bowl pretty bad. He's top 3 in the conference for sure.

Yea I understand Pro Bowl is a joke to some but whats an even bigger joke is Manning being ahead of Romo lol. I guess we can dead all the "Romo is overrated" talk now? Matt Ryan and Eli Manning get more respect than Romo? Ratliff is the best defensive tackle in the league. That's also a joke. Everything else is what it is. But that qb voting is laughable.

LMAO @ Adams

Just wow. I wouldn't even vote for him on a near all Cowboys ticket.

This is the one that strikes you as a LMAO?

He shows a note that says Allen Rossum, who returned exactly one kick before getting hurt as being 5th overall. And he was also benched by SF before we got him. Now THATS a LMAO.

Antonio Pierce before Keith Brooking?

Eli Manning and Matt Ryan before Romo?

Obviously fan-fueled hate. I don't really care though, as the Pro Bowl is a joke.

That list looks ridiculous.

It looks like an "I recognize that name" poll. Shouldn't count for nearly a third of the tally. Oh well...

Only Ratliff and McBriar are worthy this year. Can't think of anyone else that has dominated their position in every game.

The fact that Hamlin and Adams are being considered and Ratliff isn't tells you all you need to know. It would be funny if Hurd was the only Cowboy to make it, IMO that would be a real testament to Joe D's amazing work this year.

Romo, Gurode, Ratliff, Ware, and McBriar deserve to go.

Can't believe this squad sent 13 guys there a few years back, talk about an unnecessary ego boost.

they even have Jonathan Vilma over Keith, who has 2 more tackles, and 1 more sack

Eh, I stopped giving a crap about the pro bowl ages ago. Ratliff, Ware and Witten are the only ones that really deserve to go. Why Ken Hamlin is on that list at all is beyond me.

A couple of years ago we had a ton of Pro Bowlers and no playoff win.

I'd rather have 0 Pro Bowlers and a playoff win (or 3-4)
