NFL analyst: Favre, Romo overrated

This was released a long time ago.

Basically, it's Sal saying "I would like to sell alot of copies of my book by saying something controversial about popular athletes."

Attention *****.

Sal's just jealous that all those guys except Romo have rings and Romo's is coming soon (and he knows it) and McPuke and his beloved Eagles don't have rings!

Before the Eagles game a few weeks back on DNL on Comcast Sal Pal also said that the Cowboys weren't really that good and that the Eagles could and probably would beat them.

So yeah...

Sal is a moron.

How could Favre be on that list but NOT Montana?

He said Bradshaw was an average qb surrounded by great players... the same could be said about Montana (only Montana was better then average).

Hell, the same could be said about Steve Young too. Amazing, Yound did nothing with Tampa Bay, but made the HOF with the 9ers.

I don't disagree that some of those QBs are overrated, but they sure as hell aren't the MOST overrated.

Tony's career has just begun. How the hell could he make any kind of "all-time" list?

He probably included Favre and Romo just to sell more books. After all, who would care about a book by this guy discussing QBs from the past. So to make it more relevant, he made sure to include Favre (Packer nation) and Romo (to gin up Cowboy interest).

B-I-N-G-O (3x) and Bingo was his Nameo.

And isn't it interesting that a Philadelphia writer doesn't list McNabb on his list of overrated players? :)

um... joe theisman, anyone?

he deserves to be on that list a lot more than favre and romo do... but he's sal's coworker at espn, so i guess that precludes him from making it.

:suxskins:

montana overrated?

um... no.

montana was awesome. (and young was very, very good, too.)

not only that, but i don't think that anyone (or many) failed to take into consideration the value of jerry rice. montana was just money, plain and simple.

how can tony romo be over-rated on his first year ??
with all the things his done, and records he might be under-rated if anything ....

In reality - he shouldn't be commenting one way or the other on Romo - his entire career is ahead of him. To get lumped in with those other guys was sorta weird..........must wanna sell some books.

Romo could possibly be overrated, but he is also 13-5. His first pass play was an interception. He is 0-1 in the playoffs. His first start was against Carolina where he lead the team to win. He has been to the probowl after starting 10 games. He has had 8 career 300 yard games. He has already tied the Cowboys single season touchdown record. He has had a game where he threw 5 interceptions and a fumble and still drove down the field for the game winning fieldgoal. He hasn't even completed his first season.

Is he over rated?

Possibly, but the media is incharge of the rating not Romo.

who buys sports books?

and who buys sports books written by ESPN...spot anchors? it's not like this guy is Tom Brokaw, and not like this book is about the Greatest Generation

I thought it was 16-5?

Welp, I had him underrated... foolish me

:laugh2:

plus I think his career QB rating is somewhere around 97/98, just off the top of my head, completion percentage about 68/70, 2 to 1 TD to INT ratio, about a 7.5 something yards per attempt, only 1 QB has put up better numbers in his 1st 15 starts in NFL history

very good QBs can never be overrated, maybe entering this year, yeah, I could see the argument, but so far in his career, the praise has been justified
