I think that is the reluctance of some of the owners because congress gives them a pass and they don't know who would try and make a case against them. But it they're doing this strictly along the medicinal route, I think they're good. Many states have approved that, although not the state the Cowboys are in.I didn't say the NBA was. I was saying that they can further relax the testing policies and the government isn't going to come after the NFL.
I think the hidden problem in this is the message this sends down to line to the parents of the young players, high school and below. The NFL cannot be seen as approving of weed except under the guidance and supervision of a medical professional. However, the grandparents of these kids are the fastest growing and heading to be the largest demographic group of users of the product. 65+, we be rockin'.
I am a former smoker and while it may not be physically addictive, it can be emotionally and psychologically habit forming but of all the things that are, I see it as a small player. It's all about hooked on a feeling. There are some people that should never take their first hit so to say it's not a slippery slope is to understate it.
But you know what would really help all of this out? If this country would stop giving it's citizens so many damned reasons to escape reality.
