NFL changes I've noticed

I don't know what's so hard for you to understand. I'm not asking about what it is now, we all know that, I'm asking if the owners are someday thinking of going to a bid per game approach, why can't they just let both networks have NATIONALLY televised late games. I can't think any other way of wording this.

I can only imagine the current status is more about the Networks. The nationally broadcast game provides them a huge spike .

That’s why they won’t allow 2 Nationally broadcast games at the same time. It’s about the Networks revenue.

If you want to speculate I’d say that as long as we have these huge deals with the networks I think this will remain.

If you want to speculate I’d say that as long as we have these huge deals with the networks I think this will remain.

The network deals are done after next season and there's a link on this thread that states that bidding on individual games by networks is something that already been discussed. I would think the league would rather see both networks having an early and late game so more people who have access to those networks than cable networks.

We shall see who has the larger influence . My instinct is the Networks at this time. We know at some point it could all move to a NFL Sunday Ticket or PPV type platform or online entities battling for them but I’m not sure we’re there yet

It will never go to just NST or PPV because that would require fans to pay to watch games and there's enough ill feeling toward the league right now so that would never happen. They would lose so many fans that will refuse to have to pay to watch games at home.

I've been thinking on this since I read that link and here's what I've come up with both networks could flex their games to the late game and except for the markets for each team, the networks can determine how much of the country see what games. There's almost always a couple of late games every week and yet one gets most of the country. There's always early games on both networks so why can both networks have late games too.

Simple answer to your question.......the networks have an almost franchise like territorial protection built in their deals. They don't want a competing network getting more viewership. That's why the games are shown the way they are. The nfl is more concerned about the nfl than the networks. As long as it has the product, the networks will come. This year is unique. Networks and nfl are both in damage control mode. They're scrambling for money.

That's why the games are shown the way they are. The nfl is more concerned about the nfl than the networks. As long as it has the product, the networks will come. This year is unique. Networks and nfl are both in damage control mode. They're scrambling for money.

Cern I know how and why it is now my question has always been when after next season when the TV contracts are up will the league tell the networks that they will have an early game and both networks will have a nationally televised late game. There has already been some discussions by the owners on some different ideas like allowing networks to bid on individual games opening the bidding up to some cable channels too. The problem with that is not every NFL fan has cable or a dish so then there will be fans that won't be able to watch games. They can always find sites on the web to stream them but people aren't going to be to happy having to sit in front of their computers to watch games. I've done that for years but now I have a box on my TV that I paid for once and no monthly fees where I can stream it. Sometimes the streams don't load and then I have to go back to my computer.

I think they will decide against opening up the bidding to include cable channels for the reason I said and I think it will come down to FOX for the NFC and CBS for the AFC and I think there's a chance that they will open it up to having both networks having late games nationally. If you think about it on early games one of the networks is having an out of market game so i don't see why there would be such a big difference having both networks with late games nationally.

I'm talking about there could be bidding on individual games on Sundays that include cable channels getting too bid. The article said that they would open up all games for bidding including cable channels.
