Amid reports that the league is considering moving the location of the draft as early as 2015, Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones says he already knows of a place that would be happy to host the event.

"As you can imagine, we like the idea," Jones told KRLD-FM on Friday, per FOXSports.com. "Anything that we can do at AT&T Stadium for our fans, give them a more up close and personal look at, I think would be a plus."

Said Jones: "I think it's something that the league is seriously taking a look at. They've actually looked at making it multilocational in terms of doing a day in New York and a day in another city, something like that. There's a lot of things being discussed. At the end of the day, we're trying to make our game better for our fans, and that includes all aspects of it."

Maybe it's just me, but I think it's terribly tacky to hold the draft at a particular teams stadium. I am trying to think how I would feel if the draft were held at Fedex Field, Lincoln Fin., or even worse Metlife. I don't think I would like it as a Cowboys fan.

NYC, while obviously the home office of the NFL is hardly a bastion of football, do they even play high school football up there lol? Also kind of annoying to see a tiny fan base like the Jets get so much play during the draft.....

It would be kinda cool if the draft was held in the team's city that had the #1 overall pick. It would be cool until, they traded that pick away that is..... :D

How neat Stevie. How any GM or son of a GM, could be comfortable with discussing anything other than trying to put a winning team on the field after nearly two decades of abject failure, is beyond me.

I agree with your point but when I think of FedEx, Lincoln, or Metlife I think of football and the teams that play in them. Jerry has used his stadium for so many varied events that it almost most feel like it's just a place that the Cowboys happen to play. Maybe the owner of the other stadiums I mentioned are doing the same thing but it's just that I don't hear about them but I know their not doing the national tv events like JJs doing.

I think this stadium has become JJ's first love.

Self-parody is tough to pull off sometimes.

I think it would be awesome actually. I'd love to have the chance to potentially get to go to the draft live and if it were there I would have a small shot to go.

I disagree, not tacky at all. I think it would be great for fans and the NFL. It would not bother me to see it at an oponents place. We have to play games there anyway.
And not all teams stadiums are accomandating to holding an event like this. It would need to be in an enclosed venue.
So yes, some teams fans may feel slighted because of this, but it's not the fault of the teams that do have one. Unless they use some local convention center type place in that teams city as opposed to the stadium.

I am all for moving cities but it must be held in a smaller venue. Could you imagine the chirping of crickets on day three of the draft in Cowboys Stadium? I really like the idea of holding it in proximity of the team that has the first pick. Obiviously the draft dates are flexible in the Goddell era since we are having it on July Fourth this year to allow for a cancelled high tech puppet show or whatever reason he made up to hold it this late. The fan energy in a city with the first pick would be pretty special.

H.S. Football in NYC. NOT.

Unless they can make it a mega event - doubtful.
NFL does strange things. The big board would fit nicely in their scheme of big event.
But it's doubtful seeing they have two teams in NYC area and easy fill the seats in Raido City. Plus lots of transplanted fans.
Multiple day numbers of fans in the seats would be a hard sell in DFW area.
Look most fans have no clue about what happens at the Draft. After first round they have no interest.
But for calrity sake they do hold it here. First two days they would have good attendence after that big drop off.
The NFL would have to have a lot of hooks to get people to attend it on day 3.
Maybe they are right on 3 different cities. But the 3rd day is the hard sell.
Example. Held in Denver. Who cares in Denver what the other 31 teams are doing in rounds 2 through 7.

Maybe it would be cool to hold in the city that's holding that year's Super Bowl - start the season with the draft, end the season with the big game.

Doubtful again as the Super Bowl is a rotation between 10 sites.
And there is no juice to get fans there. Free event.

I don't know why anyone not making money directly off this thing, gives a damn where it's held. If you aren't one of the few people crazy enough to go sit in the venue to watch the thing live, what possible difference does it make?
