NFL Determining Who To Invite To Draft: Quinn Concerns?

I don't know where he's ranked. Nobody does, the Combine has not been held yet. However, in this thread, SDogo is saying that the NFL has concerns about where he might end up going. I would think that if he were a top 10 pick, or even a 1st round pick, they would not be considering advising him to return to school or whatever they are considering for him.

I do want to clear something up. First, IMO they are asking too soon and asking the wrong questions. Of course most teams will not have a market value for him. They have not seen him blow his nose in over a year. I'm sure if this was asked a month from now we would have a whole different answer.

The reason i found it interesting is the fans want to label him as a sure fire top 10 pick but it's apparent NFL teams are not yet willing to do that. It also shows just how important these workouts are for him.

Yeah, I'm sure. I've already said that he has ability but he don't always play like what you've just posted. I understand that a lot of people like this guy. I'm saying that there is a reason some teams are not ranking him as high as a great many people on this board are.

I'm sorry, but that's not what you said. You said the guy doesn't get off the line of scrimage, can't disengage, not particularly good against the run, etc,etc.. and that's just not the case.

Now, I would agree with you that after watching clips of him ( not only this two, but in other games as well ) that it looks like he doesn't go 100% all the time, but, then again, all players don't go " 100% all of the time ".

As for teams no ranking him high, that might be the case, however, teams had Dez Bryant off their boards entering last year's draft. Obviously, those teams look pretty silly right now. We'll see if Quinn makes whomever is not ranking him high look silly as well.

No, I don't think he has to put up those kinds of numbers but in the game that is shown in this clip, the one where it doesn't look like he had any trouble with Wang, well, that's how edited clips can make things appear different then perhaps they really are.In that game against VTech, Quinn had exactly one tackle and no sacks.

Thing is, though, not even James Cameron can edit the play he made on #5. If they counted that as a tackle instead of a sack, then he was robbed, because it was obviously a sack and one he initiated. Somebody else helped finish the play, but he should have received the credit. But that's not here or there in the grand scheme of things other than to dispute your statement that Wang " thumped him ". If anything, that play showed he was doing the " thumping " on Wang.. twice.

You wanna say that they weren't running at him? OK, I mean, that's not what happened but it's fine. 1 tackle and you just saw it in that clip.

Nobody said they weren't running at him. The clip showed, without a doubt, 3 goal line runs, and all of them were away from him which means V-tech made it a point to do so in those particular situations.

OK, then consider it said. I have commented on what a good athlete he is in the past. That's what I don't get about this player. I mean, he should be dominating against everybody and he doesn't. He does not get off the line of scrimage well. He's cat quick on his first move but he's slow off the snap. I mean, that's just one of the things I don't understand.

When he gets blocked, he stays blocked and he doesn't have to. He has the quicks and the strength to fight threw those blocks. He just doesn't do it. It's weired. I honestly don't know what the problem is.

So I guess we will see. I mean, maybe he comes into the NFL and makes everybody see another player but honestly, I can't blame teams for having concerns about this player. I would worry about having to make a decision to spend that kind of money on this player.

If you watch him against teams like Virginia or Duke or Citadel or East Carolina, he will look good. I mean, he had a Hall of Fame type games against Virginia with 7 tackles and 3 sacks but Virginia was not a very good team in 09. They went 3 and 9, there only wins were against this same North Carolina, Indiana and Maryland. I mean, Virginia gave up 41 sacks in 09. They were not very good on that OL. I'm not trying to take it away from him, I'm just concerned that you don't see that same kind of thing against some of the quality teams on the schedule.

Connecticut 3 tackles, no sacks.
Miami 1 tackle, no sacks.
VTech 1 tackle, no sacks.
NCSt. 4 tackles, no sacks.
Pittsburgh 3 tackles, no sacks.

The two games that I think you can look at and say he had good games against quality teams are GTech and BC. In the case of BC, who was an 8 and 5 team in 2009, he recorded 3 tackles and a sack. Was very active against a good player in Costanza. I think that's a game you can point to as to why he might be worth taking in the 1st round. To be fair, the QB for BC, Dave Shinkskie, was terrible but Quinn still had a decent game with 3 tackles and a sack.

GTech is the other game against a good team that you can point to. GTech ran the ball over 50 times in that game. They had Dwyer go for 158 and Nesbitt go for 97 yards respectively but Quinn did record 10 tackles in that game. No sacks but he had good production in the run game. Still GTech did run it down their throats with over 250 rushing yards and won 24-7.

This is what we have to go on. If you look at 2008, he had a good year as a Freshman as far as tackles go but very few sacks with only 2.

I just look at this and I worry about trying to take this guy in the top 10. To me, he is not a sure thing. He definately has talent but I don't look at this body of work and say he's a sure thing. I just don't see it.

You guys are arguing with ABQ like he said Quinn sucks. His point this entire time, if I am not mistaken, as that the questions about him are legit.

Not that they are necessarily right or can't be answered, but that there is a reason to have some concern regarding the kid.

Everyone wants to act like the guy is a sure thing and a guaranteed force in the NFL before he even gets there, just relax.

You sit out a year and there will always be questions.

Quinn has to test out well to stay a top 15 pick. How he uses this time leading up to the combine will probably determine his fate.
