NFL eliminating the Pro Bowl

Back when men were men there was no issue with playing the Pro Bowl.
You mean back before they were concerned about hair loss and talked about erectile dysfunction like in the 70s.

Before they became soft as the Pillsbury doughboy and greedy yes it was a great game back then.
It turned into pretty much of an embarrassment should have been gone sooner.
The players elected now should go visit children's hospitals and do charity work and give back to the fans since actually playing football would create too much of a risk for them.

I feel like the QB challenge and the dodgeball game were all that I even attempted to watch anymore...

Yup.

It was in the 80s or 90s, when Lynch got chastised for lighting people up, it changed shortly thereafter.

I never watched it anyway, at least not in recent years.

I love the idea of making it about the actual selections. So many alternates get credit for a Pro-Bowl when they did not really deserve it. Alternates are picked by availability more than anything else.

But I am not going to watch a 3 hour long presentation of awards on ESPN either. You can be sure the NFL is going to turn this into a spectacle like they do with everything else.

I know why they're doing it and I agree it's a good idea to do it however I disagree that some banquet or dinner for the actual people voted in is what they need know what they need is to turn it into a total skills competition It doesn't need to be everyone voted in the Pro Bowl but just the ones that can participate in the fastest NFL player contest the most accurate passing contest the one that can jump the highest the one that can pick up the most weight like II would love to see this I mean sometimes fans have the debate I think they need to have this on TV much like the NBA has the dunk contest and all those other things the three point contest they they they still have something for the fans to enjoy and answer some questions we think are funny..

Find that very interesting to turn it into a total skills competition I don't care if there's even an eating contest maybe the offensive line lineman can participate in that who can eat the most I mean this will be fun we don't need the game the game means nothing if you're not gonna make it mean something like the MLB did where you actually get home field is that still going on yeah the winner gets home field or something...

But I think eliminating all and having nothing for fans to see their favorite players I think that's wrong..

Yeah I agree the whole former Pro Bowler yeah that ended last year because there were like seven guys that didn't belong in the Pro Bowl S.Sanders is getting a credit for a pro ball he shouldn't even be considered for..

Become a joke it's a mockery but I mentioned in the other one I would love to see a skills competition Not everyone voted in has to participate but there are a lot of things I would like to see who's the fastest guy in the NFL Who can eat the most in a eating contest who can lift the most weight who's the most accurate You can still have something on TV that's a little shorter but it's still fun for fans I don't think you need to eliminate everything I mean why do we always have to go from one extreme to the other all we're just going to have a dinner and a banquet..

No I enjoyed the NBA Dunk Contest and the skills competitions like the Three Points and the Dribbling contest I don't even really like the NBA that much but I do like to watch that I don't watch the NBA game the All Star game it's also a joke I mean but it's I guess entertaining that you can score 180 points in a game with no defense...

I do like the idea of a skills competition...

Getting rid of it to usher in the 3rd Place Bowl. I had heard they liked how World Cup had one, so this would track.
There used to be this kind of game before the merger. It was called the Playoff Bowl. The Cowboys won it one time vs the Vikings, and it is the only time the Cowboys ever won a game in the Orange Bowl.

Okay.

The league makes the big announcement.

They discussed the decision at length.

No more Pro Bowl.

Great.

Players will still get honors.

Alright.

What the <bleep> will they call the honor now? Will players still be named to the Pro Bowl WHEN THERE IS NO MORE PRO BOWL?

I think they should just have All Pro honors and leave out the rest.

Honestly, I hope they don't do it. If it's anything like what we saw with the world cup, they take it about as seriously as a pro bowl anyway. Nobody wants to risk injury for a 3rd place ribbon
