NFL expected to push for 4 team Euro Division?

So they would have 6 divisional games in which they did not have to fly all the way across the Atlantic Ocean.

Then those other 11 away games still seem as an extreme travelling disadvantage for the normal requirements of a 17 game season.

Just my opinion.

Edit: 8 or 9 extreme travel away games not 11.

Agree. The nfl doesn’t need realignment. Rivalries drive tv ratings and ticket sales. I don’t think they need expansion either. NFL Europe wouldn’t be too bad. Kind of a minor leagues. You could use it to help develop players. Say each team can send so many guys from players they could fit on PS or something like that. But adding new teams and half way around the world may add new fans in Europe but US fans could be lost if their teams are having 8am games

I live in Northern California. 6:30 AM sipping coffee watching live NFL football from Europe is great. Don’t care who is playing. One game per year, which is all a team would play in Europe each season, two at most depending on how they integrate the schedule, is not going to dampen fans spirits or desire to watch NFL football. Travel would be tough for the players on the European teams. But those are jobs that don’t exist at present. No way that stops a player from wanting to play in the NFL.

The whole idea of playing games on virtually every day of the week, which is already happening, has boosted viewership. Imagine a game in Sydney, Australia, I believe the NFL is playing a game there next season, 1:00 PM Sunday start in Sydney, fans in Dallas are watching the game at like 6:00 PM Saturday (the previous day). The possibilities are endless. Funny, actually.
 
If there were four teams in Europe, games could be scheduled to take place so a team will play multiple games while there. And the young unmarried guys might like a game-bye week- game set-up. Play in London, fly to Italy for your bye week and eat awesome food and bang hot Italian babes, then back to England or Germany for the next game.

Ad rates have been falling because more people are cutting the cord and streaming. The worst part is they don’t stream on just one. Kinda forcing people to buy multiple ones. YouTube TV does have local games for the market for all the network games.

really those are only places that like American Football. France and Spain/Portugal are EU Football counties. maybe you can put one in polland but thats all i can think of.
 
Some thoughts.

The travel is not an issue - a handful of long trips per year. Other sports travel more e.g. various European club soccer competitions have teams in western Europe playing teams in central Asia. South African rugby teams now play in European leagues.

Taxes are not an issue. Many European countries have special laws where athletes pay zero tax!

The demand is there. A friend of mine was trying to buy tickets for a London game last week - there were 500k people ahead of him.in the ticketmaster Q. Tickets for the Dublin game going on sale in a few days - expected to sell all 80k tickets instantly.

Expect the NFL to balance the Conferences with a central/ south American division in the other conference to the European one.

You claim taxes are not an issue. I have seen those talking about the impact on the players.
You claim travel is not an issue. Soccer is NOT as violent and damaging to the body as American Football is; players take longer to recover. So that claim is invalid as well
Demand is a chimera. For a game now and then versus weekly - you have no evidence the support would last that long at the prices that would be required.

What level of taxes do athletes pay in the US? (Federal & State). In my country athletes pay Zero taxes even though the rest of us are heavily taxed. And there are no accountancy tricks involved - professional athletes rate of income tax is zero %.

what is your country? I find it very hard to believe your claim that highly paid athletes are not taxed

Top Rate here is 36.6%
and that is only federal
Denmarks rate is lke 70%

Since more games, more travel, even more teams, must be bargained for with the players the NFLPA would certainly insist players on European teams be made whole financially in deference to additional taxes and other expenses.

The NFL is not going to forfeit the worldwide sports market to other sports like soccer and basketball. The league has always been pro-growth. If international markets promise increased profit the NFL owners will go get it. Fans that don’t like it have plenty of other options to entertain them. Some NFL teams have requested to play in the Australia game next season. There must be something to be gained.

Ireland. Was introduced c.20 years ago in response to other countries doing the same. Fear that big stars would move abroad and bring their wealth with them. Also applies to professional musicians and authors.
